should work pretty good on a twin turbo engine.
On a V8, not too much gain.

Kinda what I'm thinking as well. Wouldn't mind a little more turbo/intake noise to drown out some of the wind noise and rattles that replaced the 5.7 sound from my last truck LOL/

These appear to be available now. Anyone taken the plunge yet?

The fact that you get basically 2 intakes for barely more than their one Lexus GX intake is a piss off

I will say this, due to the load based tuning of these engines and the Ecoboost engines, you will gain absolutely nothing by swapping the intake without a proper tune. Even with a tune, the fact that it is a turbo engine makes gains minimal unless you are maxing out the turbos. The turbos ultimately determine the power you can make and until you have them at the point that they are choking, an intake wont do anything. If they are choking, then the lower restriction intake will allow the turbo to pull in denser air which increases its mass-flow capability, but I would expect it to only be a couple %.

I will also say that I have been disappointed with everything I have ever bought from AFe. The AFe intercooler I bought for my F150 was a complete piece of crap and yet its one of the most expensive ones on the market. I would routinely have intake temps in the 150's and 160's with it and it is currently $1400. Luckily I bought it used so it was only $450 I think. The CVF intercooler I replaced it with is $725 and dropped my intake temps by at least double what the AFe did. Now i can't break 120F intake temps even towing up 7% grades on a 100F day in utah.

The Afe intake I bought for my Lexus GX was the only option on the market, but for what you get is about 50% overpriced(currently $516). It sounds decent but has an obnoxious drone at 2400-2500 rpm which where my GX sits every time I climb a hill.

So overall, I would say pass and wait to see if S&B or Banks or one of the other brands come up with something. I have an S&B intake on my F150 and its a lot nice than the AFE unit on my lexus and is like $350.

I got them...love the noise. No noticeable power increase and minimally louder than trd drop ins

I wouldn’t buy any aftermarket intake until someone makes a true cold air intake like what Ford or GM have on their trucks. These intakes are pulling air from in the fender which is usually very warm and affects power immensely.

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't personally inclined to spend the money but I couldn't help but be curious. I do like the idea of a little more intake noise. Ordered a couple TRD drop-ins. I typically run washable drop-ins for no other reason than being able to clean vs. replace.

Only airflow into the fender is from the engine bay and the fender covers in the engine bay aren’t sealed so well. Lots of hot air into the intakes.

Whilst on the topic of intakes, I wonder how snorkels will turn out

Will they tie two intakes into one?? Or have two snorkels on each side? lol

Its pricey until you look at the 2021 intake that costs $492 and realize you are getting 1/2 as much intake for 75% of the price.

Ran the AFE Stage 2 Momentum GT on my 2nd Gen Tacoma and it's probably one of the best kits out there. They are developing an intake for the s/c Tundra which I'll buy as soon as it's out

The rubber coupler they use at the throttle body irritates me. My Lexus GX intake came with the same one.

According to K&N, they introduced their version of the CAI at the SEMA conference. Looks good, no box, just a massive pipe and open filters on the end.

Just a word of caution with these types of open air intakes, aka hot air intakes, will pull in a lot of engine heat. They sound great! but I've had to revert from using them on a few vehicles, mainly my E46 M3, due to the amount of heat it was sucking in. Put stock, closed box, intake back on and heat problems went away

From my understanding, they adversely affect the torque routing interface distribution mechanism.
