Welcome to my nightmare! lol A week ago, my left side lower ball joint, which apparently had been broken for a while caused the upper ball joint to finally bust loose as I was slowly approaching a stop sign. The wheel folded over down into the wheel well. AAA towed it to my home and did a great and careful job loading it up on top of the bed of the tow truck and unloading it at my home. I finally got the new ball joints installed with the help of a mobile mechanic.

Somehow, the above scenario damaged my steering power pump and alternator, which were both working fine before mishap. Check engine light is on and the battery is being discharged when driving and has to be recharged before it will start.

The power steering is now whining. Oh, and trunk latch handle broke a day after it was unloaded.

The collateral damage from the ball joint design flaw is now overwhelming me. Are all these issues normal after a ball joint fails?

I have not hooked the vehicle to a diagnostic tester yet to see what the codes are but plan to do so tomorrow.

    Thank-you for any suggestions.

It's a 1st Gen, so the "Ask the mechanic" thread or this would be a good option too.
    Good luck!

Not sure how the alternator was affected by the failed ball joints, but the power steering certainly could have been. Could have damaged the rack and subsequently damaged the pump, but it’s likely the pump is just low on fluid after leaking from a damaged or overextended rack? The alternator is a strange one and could be coincidental. Check the power and ground wires to make sure one of them didn’t get damaged somehow. Could also be a coincidence that the battery is just bad.

'07 Sequoias were built using the remaining '06 Tundra frames. :D

But yes, end of FGT is '06. End of FGS is '07. '06 Tundra DC and '07 Sequoia parts have a very high interchange rate.
