    Hi All,

    Posting a second time now.

Anyone have experience with installing aftermarket alarm for 3rd Gen?

Can any alarm shop do it, or is it more complicated since 3rd Gen is new and high-tech?

Does OEM alarm have shock sensor and glass break sensor?

I need glass break sensor and shock sensor to help against break ins and catalityc converter theft. Yes I got cat shield already.

    Thank you!!

    Bump, anyone?

Or nobody really cares about alarms except me being at a lawless west coast...

I’m looking for the same information. I agree with your multiple defense approach for catalytic converters. I plan to do the same thing, but don’t have the answers yet.

I doubt our stock alarms have shock sensors, but might have glass break. I’ll need to check.

I have a cat shield on order from Valhalla’s Shield.

I spoke with a local alarm/audio shop. He sells and installs Viper alarms. He believes he will be able to install the alarm upgrade (eventually) but is still waiting on the programming from Viper.

Do you have an alarm brand you are considering?

I’m also asking about including a proximity motion sensor to the alarm.

My shop suggests against this due to customer dissatisfaction due to false alarms. I’m thinking the solution is to have him include a toggle switch to enable the proximity sensor on special occasions. Off at the grocery store… etc

Why all this? My cats were stolen from my 2014 Tundra on Christmas Eve in a hotel parking lot while traveling in Dallas.

You know the rest… $7000 (insured) and five months wait.

Tx12 - got it, sorry to hear about your cats stolen!

Yes, i saw a Glass Break sensor from Toyota, as add-on, but i can't find information if new Tundra's have any shock-detection. My glass sticker also doesn't mention anything about alarm on my 1794 edition.

I'm considering a 2-way top of line Viper or Clifford system. So are you saying that Viper alarm installers can't install alarm on our new trucks yet as no programming/instructions available yet???

Why are you waiting for Valhalla? I went with Talons as the security bolts they include seem to be unique (according to them), and they ship right away. I'm also even considering using the "metal cable guard" on my cat converter in addition to the shield. Even if they go through the shield, they'll have to have bolt cutters with them to cut multiple metal cables - all while alarm is gong off... The only thing is i hope it will not be making noises when metal cables will be hitting on the cat shield... install may be tricky. Considering that the bad guys don't even need to lift up the truck to steal cats, it's such a sweet target for them!

Proximity sensors is a great idea! As well as a toggle switch for them! Do you have any info about it or part numbers or guides? I never seen one except on Tesla.

Thanks. All good now- the 2014 was repaired with OEM parts, then I sold it and moved to the 2022 SR5.

Same here. Nothing on the window sticker.

That’s my understanding from my shop. I checked last week. Another said they could install, but did not seem to be knowledgeable. Check and see what you find.

edit: Yes, I’m thinking about the 2-way alarm also.

I’m trying to support a small business. He has an excellent reputation, but it is true about delays in delivery. Should arrive soon.

I was not sure about using both systems.

I’ll have to get it quoted. He indicated he has used proximity alarms, but recommended against it. He did say he could install the toggle for it. When I get part numbers I could post.

    Too much to list…
I too am waiting on info for aftermarket alarms/accessories for the 22 Tundras. I have beat the hell out of my windows And jumped in bed trying to check for glass breakage and shock sensors with no alarm going off. Think our factory alarms are just for door openings when armed (our manuals look to confirm this). I had to go by my dealership recently for questions on the lift I added and did ask about the alarm and was advised for now looks like just door opening type alarm for the 22’s. Toyota does have a glass breakage add on but not for the 22’s for some reason the dealership couldn’t explain and was told to just keep checking as eventually it will be added for the 22’s. I also contacted local alarm shop who sells Vipers and they couldn’t get one for my 22 yet as Viper working on it. Again they couldn’t explain the hold up. I then sent Viper an email asking about this and just got the Normal “we are working on it keep checking back” response. I am not a tech guy by any means and I am sure there is a legit reason why none of this would work on the new design, but it’s just all electronics/wiring huh? Not physically changing the truck. I don’t know but like y’all looks like a little more wait time…..:(
