Since adding the TRD lift/tires, getting into the bed of the truck (I'm 5'5") is becoming a pain. Sparksparts and realtruck have them for about $275 but I've seen much cheaper steps on Amazon. Just wondering if anyone went with the cheaper steps sold on Amazon and how are they holding up. BTW, has anyone accidentally driven off and forgot to flip the step up?

I have one of the AMZ cheapies. It looks, fits and works well enough.
Probably going to replace some of the steel hardware (that's already starting to rust) with stainless.

I saw the amp steps on realtruck.com but they're a little more expensive than the ones on sparkparts. They kinda all look the same, not sure what the major difference in quality is.

I'm interested also - curious if AMP is worth it?

I have an OEM step and it really doesn't work very well. I find it to be too low when deployed. And I am over 6'.

I got the Amazon one, I’m 6’3” 220 and haven’t had any issues with it. You’ll see a crap ton of horror stories on here about them but honestly I don’t know what they’re doing to break them or maybe I’m just lucky (I’m not)

My apologies, I just saw you have a 3rd gen. I can’t imagine them being all that different but yeah that’s my two cents regarding the Amazon ones

    Some additional info on mine:
I have a few pounds on @Ceezurin, and use the step at least daily. It's plenty stout.
I'd say it's a really decent knock-off of the factory part, other than the previously mentioned hardware rusting.
That's all that could rust, since the rest of it is cast aluminum and plastic, just like the Toyota step.

I loved my Amp/Toyota bed step. It was perfect for me (6’3” 235lbs). I also had these on my ‘14 and ‘18 Tundras. Never any issues and worked great.

    I’ve know amp is
I don’t have to factor in rust as an issue thank god, but yeah I see how that could factor in getting a more well know brand. I’ve heard nothing but good stuff about amp but also that it’s pricey

I have the Amp but my buddy bought an Amazon step and he said it works great. But he also only weighs 140 lbs. Definitely a difference in price though.
