I was wondering if installing a Air intake would be worth it. Anyone have any suggestions or advice?
Just looking to see if it’s helps with the health of the engine and if it sounds different after.

    thanks

    Nope.

Dyno results show minimal gains at the expense of allowing too much dust and debris into the engine. Stick with OE style paper filter.

Only air intake mod that does anything is the TRD intake trumpet.

No performance increases, if anything you'll actually lose power and filter worse. I personally like the sound but they are not even close to worth the money. If you're looking for sound and at least a little gains, do some exhaust work.

    Here's a third vote:

NOPE. You might get throatier noise when you stomp on it, but worse particulate filtration, and there's at least two videos on YouTube that dyno-confirm a loss of power.

Toyota has done a great job of fine-tuning the 2UZ. It's probably one of the longest lasting V8s out there, if you do basic maintenance and stick with OEM parts....

May be worth the time to read this thread if you've got time, it'll cover some other Q&A like this CAI topic.

It's essentailly a little venturi that installs in your fender at the very start of the stock intake pipe before the filter. Can't find the 1st Gen Tundra part number at the moment.
