    Hey folks,

So trying to solve this problem on my new to me 2007 Tundra Crewmax SR5 4x4. The dashboard has the Airbag light ON (and ofcourse TPMS) at the same time the Cruise control (CC) does not work no matter how many times I press the on/off button on the side, I just do not see the green Cruise button on the dashboard. Being a bare bones truck, my steering wheel does not have any switches on it. Just the CC on/off stalk switch.

Now my horn is working good. Looking at several post has not fully nailed down the root cause. Some replaced the Cruise control and it started working, some replaced the clock spring. T

I tried looking for clock spring part number for my truck but I cannot find it. Is there any clock spring for my Truck?

Any help in this matter would be invaluable. TIA

    ---------------------- POST FIX ---------------------------

TLDR - It was the clockspring in my case that fixed both the issues. My horn always worked. Easy way to diagnose it is to pull the airbag light code and see if it has to do with front Drivers side airbag codes. This will confirm that at least you need to change clockspring to fix airbag light.

    - How to fix - Watch clockspring videos online 2-3 of them. Get an idea of how to fix them. Then DIY fix them after ordering clockspring. Usually take 45-60 min for first timer to fix this.

    - Where to ordered the clockspring and paid? - I ordered from ebay. My CS was only $14 bucks shipped. But worked great.

Sounds like clock spring. Easy to replace and cheap. Got mine off eBay, just search 2007 tundra clock spring and something like this should pop up:

It could just be the clock spring, but it could also be the cruise control switch as well. I had cruise control issues, and it turned out to be both in my case. It was well worth the $$ to pay a shop to do the proper diagnosis. They showed me a flowchart like diagram of the pathway they used to diagnose.

You could gamble and just throw parts at it and save the $$ on labor and come out ahead. I often have that inclination too lol.

Could someone with access to Online Toyota Troubleshooting access please download the troubleshooting steps for diagnosing this problem so we dont just throw part to it? i.e. the flow chart...To me its likely the clock spring needs replacing. But its good T-shooting before knowing if its Clock spring or the Cruise switch itself that has gone bad. That would be great time saver for all of us.

    Thanks

You can have the SRS codes read with a moderately priced scan tool, and many auto parts stores will loan you one to do that. If the code points to the driver's front airbag and you have CC issues, that is the clock spring.

Update 1 - Codes Scanned via Techstream - So I managed to get Toyota TIS Techstream attached to the Tundra and scan for codes. I get a code for "B1801 - Open in D Squib Circuit". Which when I looked it up is involved with swapping out the clock spring. So I know at least my airbag light is because of this issue. So I ordered the clock spring. I'll update when I swap out clock spring and report back if this fixes the SRS light and Cruise control as well.

BTW if anyone in the Northern Atlanta area needs to use Techstream let me know.

how easy is it really to replace the clock spring? I am having the same issue and, while I am mechanically inclined, messing with the steering wheel (airbag) kinda puts me off.

If you disconnect the battery and wait ten minutes, the airbag won't go off.

No, that's how you disable the SRS system.

Looking forward to it. My new-to-me ‘07 DC SR5 is giving me identical issues. My ‘06 4Runner’s airbag light is on but the CC works just fine ¯\_(°~°)_/¯

Final Update - SUCCESS - The clock spring swap worked. The ABS light is gone i.e. Off and Cruise Control is now working. BTW you do have to swap out the steering wheel sensor from the old CS to the new one. But it was easy. This was the first time I am doing this so it took me like 45 min. But if you know what you are doing it takes probably 20-30 minutes tops. BTW I bought the cheaper CS off ebay. Mine cost me $14 shipped.

Now I know the China quality and hopefully this will last for a while. Right now my truck has 276k miles. So we'll see how long it last's.
