Factory alarm or aftermarket? Taking a picture of the flashing light may help us determine which it is. Seeing a pic of the fob may help too.

A lot of the southern/southwestern dealerships installed aftermarket add-on alarm systems like the KARR system, which was garbage, and would totally flake out like this.

In general, aftermarket alarms have a shelf life of 10-15 years, and when they shit on themselves, it's usually like what you're seeing, or weird things with door locks.

Thank you sir just added a pic...
Before this happened and it would not start and I did a procedure that included depressing the red alarm light but I now cannot remember how I disabled it.

    This has happened to me.
Follow these steps to put alarm into valet mode,

    1. Key off position, push led light/button to out position
    2. Turn key on
    3. Press led in
    4. Turn key off
    5. Start truck normally. (Red led should stay on constant)

    That did it...Thank You Txtrd1stgen..
    Owe you big time !!

Gonna right this procedure down and stick it in my truck

I think this alarm system drains my battery too cause when it sits for a week or 2 battery is dead...just need to disable the stooped thing.

I wrote it on the back of my 4wd instructions card in the sun visor. Glad it worked for you.

I was not aware of this. Looks like I have about eight more years on mine. I hope I don't forget by then.

Maybe even less these days. Ever since manufacturing moved away from Taiwan - which had very respectable output in comparison - over to mainland China, the quality of electronics has really gone downhill. sort of taken the reverse path of Hyundai ... back in the 80s, Hyundai was a "crash it and trash it" brand, but they make a respectable offering now, and for what it lacks, they make up for in warranty. These days, for consumer electronics, shit's gone south and they build things as cheap as possible to last as long as its perceive technological relevance much more than desired longevity, which has put us in this unforuntate place of billions of tons of electronic waste going in the ground every year.
