Took my 2016 into Discount tire to get the routine rotation and balance (every 5k) not only did they scratch and take metal off my wheels, which were like new. Now my alignment is way off pulling hard right. Tire ware is not the issue. Tread is the same all around and even. Took it back and filed a complaint but they won’t help with the alignment. What would cause the alignment to change that much?? It was perfect before!!

I am no expert but make them put them back the way they where. Idk how rotate would affect alignment but maybe a belt in that tire is bad and its causing the wheel to pull that direction. If it was on the back you wouldn't feel it of course. But like I said I dont know but that what I would start with.

And I would make then replace that wheel that's just carelessness at it's best.

I have been thinking about getting those for my next set. I will watch where this goes to see if your issue is tire related. Thanks. I hope this gets fixed soon for you.

There is no way a tire rotation can mess up your alignment. It’s set in your lower control arms and tie rods. Neither of which get touched changing tires. Either someone purposefully did it which makes no sense, or there is something else going on.

(Unless you have crazy tire wear or mismatched tires which you say isn’t issue)

Rotate your tires around and see if it follows a tire to see if you have a tire issue.

They should fix that wheel for you. Did they say they wouldn’t?

That’s what I’m saying, heard back from regional office, they got ahold of the shop and I called and the manager is aware of the problem. I don’t know what they did, the truck was perfect!!

I worked at Hunter Engineering and I was required to take the training course the mechanics take to learn how to work the equipment. This gets me familiar with the equipment so I can design better to fit the need to the mechanic. During the 2 week course I mingled with all the mechanics during break and lunch and they were all cools guys, except...

Each one of them and I mean "EVERYONE" of them had a story. Like they would be bored because business was low and someone came in for whatever and when they had the car on the machine hooked up they leaned on the tire to make it look like it needed an alignment. Then when it was approved for an alignment it suddenly became a smoke break. Others have talked about making changes to the vehicle with tools as well.

This has been a few years ago when cameras were not the norm like it is today. I have never trusted anyone working on my truck, ever. After that experience it confirmed my suspicions. The look on all those guys face when I was introduced as the Design Engineer for Hunter Engineering. Priceless

Did you check the air pressures? That is the only way a rotation would make you think the alignment is off.

Ya, it’s nothing to do with tire pressure or tread, there almost new. They screwed the alignment up some how.

radial pull will cause the vehicle to pull towards that bad tire. Someone mentioned moving the front tires, switch them and if the pull goes the other way, it is a bad tire.

How often does radial pull happen, I’ve had a lot of tires through the years, never had that happen?

Find some place that does road force testing of tires on their balance machines. The equipment Hunter Engineering sells has that feature and it is the GSP9700

Discount tire already does that. And they don’t do alignments. Maybe the cam bolt thing but there is less pressure on the suspension with it jacked than when you’re driving it I would think.

They got me new wheels, alignment seems to be good, not like it was, but better!
