Who’s had all terrain tires that didn’t change the ride of their truck for the far worse?

I’ve always tried bc I love the look. But always fails.

My last ones were on my 19 Nissan Titan. 275/60/20 falken wildpeak, they werent crazy loud. But they could never balance them right.

only asking bc I just saw an XP tundra with my same 18” wheels and it had ridge grapplers and looked so good. I just don’t want to make the same mistake again

Its a truck, not a Cadillac. Many of us run Ridge Grapplers.

My truck came with Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I have no complaints. They do have a hum but it’s not obnoxious. Truck rides fine.

My Falken Wildpeak AT3w 295/70R18 have been great. They will flat spot after sitting sometimes but they usually smooth out after a few minutes of driving. And I haven’t noticed an increased noise level over the stock Michelin tires.

OP, if you didn't like the Falken, don't get the ridge grapplers. I'm not knocking them because I'll probably buy again. . But they're not quiet OR smooth.

I have ridge grapplers. They aren’t car tires, but aren’t bad either. Mine get flat spots after sitting a few days, but goes away within a few miles.

I definitely wouldn’t say they ride like crap.

Michelin AT2s are not very aggressive looking, but they are an all-terrain with ride quality similar to stock/highway tires in my experience.

Yup. Amazing how quiet and smooth they are for an aggressive looking AT tire.

I am fairly happy with mine. I bought the Tundra with Mastercraft ATXs that were crap.
Switched to a 33” AT2s and they are great on the road. Not put them through the paces off road yet. Just some slick mossy creeks and they did great.
I have Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my Silverado and they are great on the highway and off road.
When I replace these Michelin’s I will be getting the Cooper Discover AT3 XLTs.

I had 10 ply Wildpeaks on my Expedition and they were quiet on the highway and awesome off-road.
Though my truck sits 4 days a week as I have a company car and use it during the week.
The Wildpeaks would get flat spots and take a little driving to smooth them out.

Replaced my BF Goodrich KO2s few weeks ago. They came with the Tundra and were 285/65R18s... a stiff, rough ride.
Swore I would not replace them with ATs.
Switched to Continental Terrain Contact H/T 275/70R18s.
Wow...Feels like I am driving a smooth Cadillac now. Steers easier, quieter going down the road...wish I had done it sooner.

    Lots.
Toyo AT III's, ride great to me. Not as smooth as the stock Michelin's though, but hated the look of those tires on the truck.

I cannot stand smushy P or C rated tires on road around curves. E load stiffens it up and makes it ride as it should.

Truthfully unless your off-roading or are driving in blizzards fairly regularly during the winter season I would pass. I can absolutely agree that they look cool OP. I personally feel the Michelin LTX is superior to a lot of the AT tires I have used (Bfgoodrich KO/KO 2, Nitto Terra Grappler/G2, Duratracs) in light to moderate snow, ice, and extremely cold conditions. The other tires I mentioned have only been better in very deep snow and obviously dirt. But I have never not made it home using the LTX. I like the Michelin AT2s as well but they are not as good as the LTX.

If anyone tells you that it make no difference running at's the ain't telling you the truth....I have had many different brands and sizes over the years not one didn't change the ride some worse than others.
I just switched to falcons for the first time AT3 w 295/75/18's this fall they are so far quiter than most but stiff enough ride. Balancing is spot on.
I don't need AT's on my truck but it looks so much better than what it came with ....I am still willing to sacrifice ride to have look of a truck !!!

I never noticed the ride degrading when I switched to 10 ply, aggressive snow tires. I did notice decreased tire changing and repair. But, I spend a bunch of time on mountain logging - access roads and little time on interstate. Our county roads give a bad ride no matter what tires on the truck.

I tried the Nitto G2's and absolutely love the look but I could not keep them under the truck in the rain or wet road. The look was not worth me risking the boat and truck by not stopping for a red light. Went back to the Michelin's. If I was off road as my hobby then I would make a different choice

I heard the same thing about the terra grappler. Terrible in rain.

    Duratrac are very noisy

Michelin Ltx m/s are the best tire but they don’t look aggressive at all.

toyo at 2 and 3 seem pretty good.

I have to check out those cooper XLT

It’s interesting. I’ve run a lot on tucks since I was 16. (Over 20yrs). That’s all I’ll say haha. I absolutely hated the Michelin atx. I’m on KO2s now. Calgary to Shuswap in Canada.Rogers pass during a blizzard and Calgary with over a foot of snow. Ice . Ice fog. And wind. No complaints. My Michelin’s could not get thru my alleyway with light snow in 2wd.
So in my limited use of the Michelin atx (20000km) I’ll never buy them again. If a guy doesn’t want an aggressive route . Hands down best winters are hakkapeliitta.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.

I suggest Michelin LTX AT2s, nice side snipes, super useful offroad yet add zero noise to an otherwise quite highway ride. Very capable offroad in all surface types, no flats in several deer seasons on rough terrain.

Duracracs start the 'whawhawha' noise at about 35mph, annoying as hell and not a very good offroad tire anyway, I got more than one flat at deer lease. Don't have experience with the others, Michelins are all i need. Luck all.

I will never buy another Nitto. The Terra grapplers were were garbage on anything but dry roads. Wet roads were dangerous with them.

It really is funny how people have such different experiences with the same vehicles... I guess there are just so many different variables however in real winter driving a winter tire is the ONLY way to go like you suggested.

My stock KO's felt like being in a boat with the stock black shocks.
Installed the 6112s and stiff as f**k.
Bought KO2s when the KOs wore out, a little better, but still stiff...
I've got 40K on the KO2s and the next tire I will buy will be Cooper AT3 XLT.

    Looking forward to it...
