Market place has a listing for a set of 2021 pro wheels and tires with only 6000 miles on them for $1500 with tpms sensors and lug nuts. The guy said they were like new with no issues. Drove 2 hours to get them only to find out that his truck was a 2019 not a 2021. 3 of the tires looked like they had more than 15000 miles and one was like new. The wheels were in good shape for the most part. Maybe some staining but couldn’t tell if was permanent or not. Since they came off a 2019 I wasn’t sure the tpms sensors would work with my 21 so I offered $1200. He would only come down to $1300. He swore his truck was a 21. I explained to him the 21’s don’t have a wire antenna on the fender because it has a shark fin on the roof. He opened the drivers door and the tag said 6/19. I asked what other parts he had and he showed me the factory suspension including steering knuckles, 4 shocks and coils and other misc parts. He said $500. I was so upset about the wheels I forgot about the suspension and left without anything. He also had some side steps and a TRD skid plate but didn’t ask prices on those. For future knowledge, would have the 2019 tpms sensors work with the 21?
I’m kicking myself in the butt for not grabbing the suspension. Oh well.

After looking at the prices for the suspension parts, I’m very tempted to go back and get the suspension. Anything I should be aware of with the fox shocks? How will they compare to the TRD off-road suspension? I do tow a small trailer occasionally, max 3000lbs

I can’t comment on your main question but I just swapped some wheels and tires from a 21 TRD off road to my 19 sr5 yesterday. Going in that direction the 21 TPMS sensors could not be programmed to my truck. My 19 sr5 sensors had to be swapped into the 21 wheels/tires if that makes sense. Maybe it will work in the other direction but this was my experience.

Are you saying he was selling the TRD Fox suspension for $500? Get it. You could resell it for a lot more if you don’t use it and make some money.

The guys an idiot but the advantage was yours that suspension is worth 3 times that and the wheels at that price are a damn good deal. I would take the wheels and have the tpms swapped. Not a huge deal at all and then sell the 19 sensors on here.

4 hours of driving is 150 bucks in fuel if driving the Tundra.

Well, I decided to go back down and make a deal. $1700 took it all. I’m pretty happy, even though I’ll need to swap or get new sensors for the wheels.

steal of the century. You can install some aftermarket tpms and have them paired to your truck.

Great find. Should I be shocked that someone who doesn’t even know their truck is 3 years old vs 1 year old has $4500+ In premium spare parts laying around?!?

It pays to be pragmatic and remove emotion from business transactions. You’re lucky someone didn’t scoop you. Nice score.

Does anyone have the part numbers for the 2021 tpms sensors I’ll need? Will I need the dealer to program them or can the 21 do this from the cab?

Might do this, but thinking about keeping the TRD off-road wheels too. If I keep them, I’ll need new sensors for one set. Can I program both sets or only one at a time? If in don’t program them, what will happen? TPMS dash light on?
