Hi everyone. I'm brand new to the forum after watching from the sidelines for 2 years. This forum has been a ton of help. I've finally encountered an issue I can find any threads on. Perhaps I'm not searching on the right key words.

I'm nearly done installing AlphaRex Novas on my 2023 Limited Hybrid, replacing the reflector headlights.

I encountered the following issue with the fuse taps for the DRL:
    - Picture A - AlphaRex's instructions, which shows the fuse tap wires pointing downwards (towards the grille). The arrow points to JA, the fusible link block assembly, which is flush everything else, allowing for the fuse taps to face the direction in their instructions. I suspect this is a non-hybrid.
    - Picture B - Shows my situation. The arrow points to JC, a different fusible link block assembly that is not flush with everything... I suspect this piece is different b/c of my truck being a hybrid? This forces me to have my fuse tap wires going upwards (towards the cabin).
    - Picture C - Shows how the pressure on the fuse tap wire resulting from pressing into the blue thing. Because of this pressure, you can see the fuse tap isn't inserted perfectly square.
    - Picture D - another angle

I've Googled the crap out of this and can't find anyone else with this problem. Anyone else have this problem?

Is my setup going to be an issue? If so, what other options do I have (aka, is there another fuse that I can tap into)?

I just learned that fuse taps are directional. I need a solution for both fuse taps.

Picture A definitely a non-hybrid. Similar to my truck install and the file from alpharex (attached). Hopefully you get yours figured out. I think I got a dud passenger light as my lights aren’t working. The only thing that works on mine is the marker lights but not the headlights or drl. Calling alpharex in AM and see what I can do to troubleshoot.

I was able to turn around the tap that goes to the 7.5A Tow Lights fuse, but still no solution for the 15A Horn fuse. I did connect with another hybrid owner who showed me a picture of his fuse tap that looks different from mine. I'm also going to be calling AlphaRex tomorrow.

Bummer to hear about your troubles. Hopefully you'll get yours figured out too.

You should be able to use this along with the tap you currently have. Let us know if it works out. Just a quick search on Amazon and I found this. 16ga should be ok for such a short run but if you can find it with 12ga I'd do that.

I was looking at this exact one on Amazon as well... until I realized this is for mini fuses. Our trucks have mini blade fuses. I'm honestly ignorant about the difference between the two and wasn't sure if they're compatible.

Partially. I was able to get the fuse tap to fit in for the 7.5A towing fuse, but still looking for a solution for the one that is supposed to go into the 15A horn fuse. With that said, the following is working for DRL:
    - On/off sequence does not fully work. Only the amber lights come on.
    - DRL does not work when headlights are not on
    - DRL works when headlights are turned on. what's also interesting is that the DRL on/off sequence then fires when you turn on the headlights.

I'm calling AlphaRex later today to see if they have any solutions.

I had same issue check the connector for the DRL. Its the small pin that you have to unhook from headlight initially. It can fit into plug but the pin might not be lined up all the way. When i check it that was the case and it fixed the issue.

What about your fuse taps? Were you able to insert them where AlphaRex instructs? And is your truck a hybrid?

    Just a quick update.

I called AlphaRex this afternoon. First tech support guy said he had one other person call in a while ago with the same issue, but forgot the solution. So he consulted with his coworkers. He ended up passing me to an Edwin… who said he was heading to a meeting and would call me back in 20 minutes. Never got a call back from him.

What concerns me more is the first tech guy said that fuse tap is not directional. Yet… I’m seeing everywhere that fuse taps ARE directional. I would hope AlphaRex tech support is not giving bad guidance.

Fuse taps ARE directional; they will work either direction but only provide proper protection for both circuits when installed correctly.

Sadly, this won't be helpful as the OP has a hybrid. I've run into issues in the hybrid fusebox for the same reasons OP has; the large terminal in the center of the fusebox.

I'm interested in these lights, but I'm looking forward to ARx's reponses to the OPs inquiries. Thanks for putting in the legwork, OP.

It can easily be figured out by tapping into a different fuse. Just find one that's always hot. Or you could always add a small fuse block and just fuse it directly from battery.

That's what I ended up doing, but I know OP is trying to follow ARs install instructions which (I assume) call for a certain install location due to amperage. Either way, thanks for doing the investigation OP.

Did you ever reach Alpharex on a fix with yours being an HV?

I tapped the 15A horn fuse and faced it the other way, it does bump into that denso fuse “IGR NO.3” but it works perfectly fine.
