Alpine Type R’s have been my preference for 20 years.

Yes I had some 12W6's back in the 90s. I'm wondering how this Stealthbox would sound compared to my current setup.

I have that Stealthbox although I didn't pay that much for it when new.
Mine came with 4 ohm subs, that is what they had back then in 2015.
I like it, it runs great since I fixed the wiring.
JL had the box running at 4 ohms wired in series even though it was supposed to be 2 ohms.
I rewired it in parallel down to 1 ohm, since my Apline PXD V9 is 1 ohm stable.
    It made a big difference.

I'd imagine there are cheaper options using 10" JL subs in a different enclosure.
    I wouldn't pay $1500 for it.

Both woofers (Alpine and JL) are relatively equal with the slight edge going to JL for Specificity.
The difference between the two is that the stealth box is specifically designed for your truck into a box specifically designed for those exact woofers. That combo is unbeatable, and is what justifies the cost. You will get the absolute best performance and maximum efficiency for whatever amp you drive it with.
Slapping some type R's into a Hertz box on a Sunday afternoon does go boom boom but does not make as good of apple pie as the cider farm. Meaning: you get what you pay for.
I have a Stealth box in my CM with a 1000w Audison amp driving it and it is absolutely sensational without losing any space.
    Highly recommend.

    ^ This does make sense.

For years I thought I wasn't running enough wattage thru mine.
The Alpine is certified at 525 RMS watts for the sub channel.
From my many questions on the forums, many told me that wasn't enough for the Stealthbox.
But thru emails with JL Audio, they told me it was plenty.

I even bought a 1000-watt JL amp and temp installed it and it still didn't sound right.
Sent it back and ran it with the Alpine.
I got tired of dealing with it and ran it for a few years.
I then finally took the subs out and saw it was wired in series.
Re-wiring it made A LOT of difference..

It does take up the entire 60% side of the back seat floor.
I ended up getting a swing case to put my stuff in.

That is a custom box that I had before getting the JL box. I still have it actually.

I love the JL's. I have been using their stuff since the early 90's. Its a ported box. I have no idea what shipping would be for that thing.
