That decked storage system is absolute garbage. Is there a good alternative to them that is out there that doesn’t crack and fall apart?

Do you need sliding drawers? I was about to pull the trigger on a Milwaukee Packout setup for my bed before I sold the truck.

Good to know, was saving up for one but not if the AZ heat is going to kill it.

I use a Bedslide and contractors cap and it gives me a lot more flexibility than the drawer systems I think as well as better more secure and weathertight storage overall.

The side boxes are larger than the drawers and a lot more easy to access and latch with steel pins at three heavily weatherstripped points and then I use drawers or bins or both or neither as needed in the bed which I can bring out to me as I need to and I dont have to lose any height in the bed to the drawers all the time.

Last week I removed the two huge RV fiberglass drawers that I usually have stacked in one side in back so that I could move tall stuff and it is really quick and simple to make the change too.

I thought I wanted the Decked myself but I know now it would just be in my way a lot of the time. It also seems like a lot of space is wasted in a Decked by how thick and curved the plastic needs to be to support any real weight there so you lose space to make it possible at all.

First I've heard of this issue with the Decked system. Can you elaborate?

I, also would like to hear about your decked system failure. I have had mine installed for 5 years without any problems. Please validate your criticism with some details and pictures.

I had one briefly. The top cracked with very little use and minimal weight. I have several contractor buddies that use them that are experiencing the same thing within the first year of purchase. Plus they leak once the top cracks and everything gets soaked as the water just stays in the drawers.

Glad yalls are working out for you.

Expect to get a little... friction when you call an item absolute garbage, people will defend said item because they paid alot of money for it, whether its a good product or not. Seeing that you're from Houston, you should probably explain that you're in a hot, dry?wet? environment and the drawer system is exposed to the elements and not under a cover or whatever the situation was.

As for an alternative, I always recommend making friends with a welder and supplying him liberally with beer and tacos.. you could end up with a very nice custom system  :welder:

Sorry to hear about your experience. I worked in construction my whole life and can understand how the decked system could fail with that sort of use. In retirement, with limited use it’s really nice for my current needs.

edit; I’m not ‘defending’ anything, but if someone has a valid complaint about a product we should be provided details to know if we’re being trolled or not.

We have one in a dually at work, 2 years now with no issues. The boys are pretty hard on stuff but it seems to be holding up quite well !

Something doesn't sound right about this.
Did you contact Decked to see about a warranty replacement?
From everything I've heard and read they are really good when it comes to standing behind their products.

Anything can break, but these systems are pretty stout and normal use should not be causing the sort of damage you describe... abuse on the other hand. You can't overload something and then wonder why it failed, and you can't just toss heavy equipment or materials on it and expect it to hold up.

    “This system is garbage!”

    “Here’s a quality one..”

“Kick me hard in the taint! I don’t wanna pay that for quality!”

Living in Houston might be pretty rough on plastic where others might not have any issues.

I had a Truck Vault in my last vehicle (Tahoe). It worked for what I needed it for but was extremely expensive and not particularly rugged. I believe their pickup truck models may be built differently.

In my Tundra, I've had a DECKED system for a few months now. Love it, but it does have its limitations. Probably only makes sense if you have a canopy or don't need a tonneau cover. With a tonneau, you really don't have much space above the drawers for taller items like ice chests, luggage, etc. When we went on our beach trip this summer, I had to remove the entire DECKED system to be able to fit larger items under the tonneau. RLD Design canopy should arrive in another month or so though, at which time I will reinstall the DECKED system.

Agreed. Any manufacturer can have a bad production run based on flawed raw materials or flawed process, QA, etc. I don't have any particular opinion on Decked overall, but I'll always give a manufacturer a chance to warranty an issue.

The D Box? Yes, they are awesome. I kept the two I had when I sold my Decked system. They are heavy, but solid.

Guys I’m sorry I never responded to this. I ended up selling my bed cover and then ended up buying a longbed f250 diesel to use in those situations anyway so... I just walked away from the raised platform stuff. I just have a couple pelican cases and transfer them from truck to truck as needed.
