One of my amber drls finally burned out last month so I had the dealer swap out the bulb last week when I had my truck in for an oil change / tire rotation.

2 days later the new bulb they put in is already burned out.

Any ideas what is causing this?

Either a short or just a bad bulb. Try installing another one and if it goes out too then you've narrowed it down to a short.

I had this same issue. I found out it wasnt a bad bulb after my replacement wenent out. When I wiggled the connection the light would come on and then go back off. What I found out was the copper prongs that hold the bulb in place were too loose. I just took a small screwdriver and got behind each prong and slightly bent them inward so when I slide the bulb back in it was tight. I have not had an issue since. Hope this helps

    Alot of them
They tend to rust out too. The good thing is you can replace the socket and it is only about $10.00

I had one where it turned out that the base of the bulb wasn't pushed into the socket far enough and was making intermittent contact.

Make sure you're using latex gloves to install as well. Your oils from your skin kills a bulb fast.
