I don’t see instructions for HV or a HV option. Anyone know if this will work with the iForce MAX?

Am I reading wrong, only 1 motor per side? Hopefully I’m reading incorrectly. I thought premium power boards have dual motors per side?

Most likely it will, but we'll need to figure out how to drill holes to send the wiring to the inside of the battery compartment(s). I wasn't a fan of drilling holes through the floor either.

Ah, well... sigh. Scratch this one off the list for me. I think I will keep my TRD running boards and call it good.

The vast majority of amp steps have a single motor and idler linkage on each side.

I can only think of one vehicle that had dual motors off hand.

I have snow to deal with, not sure how these would handle long cold snowy conditions…

Ehh, goods and bads. They will occasionally freeze in the up position. On the bright side, when they do open they won't have as much snow/ice built up.

In theory. If you go to the site that is actually supposed to sell them: not available. Released and available, 2 separate things, I suppose.

Same here. I was dead set on these initially, but I think the TRD steps are a better long term option. I'm planning on keeping this truck a long time, so my perspective might be quite a bit different than someone that trades in every couple of years.

We get a lot of road salt/slush in the winter, and I've seen lots of trucks driving around with one power step down, or even worse, half of the step down at a goofy angle because it's jammed up, or the motor is shot.

Yeah, I'm not really liking the drilling through the floor part either. I need to try find a Tundra with the TRD boards to see how they work in practice. Some of the fixed boards I have tried in the past are simply too high and too narrow to be of any real benefit as compared to just entering without them. Almost like they are mostly cosmetic design elements instead of practical additions. These e-boards make for a much better step location.

Agreed. The TRD step is pretty high, but it's a compromise. If you go lower to get a better step location, they would be more prone to get hung up anytime you are off road.

I would have been interested in the factory power steps as an option on my truck when it was being built, but couldn't get it with my configuration.

I don't do that kind of off-road so lower would be OK. Like those step-down boards. But I hate that look. Just can't win, I suppose. If I had it to do over again, I'd get a Tundra with the factory electric boards.

I suspect the factory power steps will eventually be available to purchase directly from Toyota, but I didn't want to wait on them.

And they might not be compatible to retrofit to my SR5 trim.

Drilling the top of the cab for the prinsu was a pain. Went through 5 bits including x3 0.25" and x2 step bits. Hopefully the bottom cab isn't as thick as the top, but be prepare to get friendly with your local hardware store.

The GoRhino E-1 boards have dual motors per side. But they cost more $$... and have a somewhat messy control method (magnetic sensors on every door) and wiring harness (one branch has to be routed across the driveshaft or transmission area). But no drilling through the floor, IIRC. Pluses and minuses...

you won’t have to drill through the floor, there are huge grommets under each side of the back seat to go through

ran them on tundras for 10 years in montana and Idaho and only had them get stuck 2-3x, but I sprayed them down regularly and lubed them during the winter. Fun fact, right at 5 years old a motor went out and 1 board was chipping on the drivers side- amp sent me 2 brand new motors and 2 brand new boards…. And extended my warranty another 5 years.

again no drilling, use the grommets under the backseats. I’ve got 3/0 winch cables and about 7 different 8g pos/neg cables going through them to my switch pros and no drilling

If I read the directions correctly the drilling is to mount a brace, not a wire pass through. So yes, you have to drill.

Has anyone purchased and installed the Amp boards?

Also, any thoughts between the Amp, Go Rhino, or RC boards ? Another brand offering power boards? I’m trying to decide between them…

I was thinking about it, but "finally released" seems to mean only that they have approved the production version design. But they are not really available.

    Interesting, but not surprised.

I’m learning towards Amp Xtreme but am intrigued about the Smart version with app. Im trying to confirm if I buy the Xtreme, can I add the smart technology.

I believe smart version is in the main brain thus cant go from regular or XL to smart. Plus XL hang too low you think? im waiting for the regular one from AMP

Im leaning towards the Amp Xtreme version, they dual motors and better protection for harsh climates.
