My neighbour's new F150, being waited for 7 months and driven for only 1 month, was stolen last night on the driveway.

Cuz most of pick-ups can't park inside the garage, is there any anti-theft idea??

New Question: any Steering Wheel Lock recommended?

    Thanks

Hide an air-tag somewhere in it.

You could install a fuel pump kill switch in it and hide it somewhere inconspicuous. Hard to steal a truck that won't start.

Wheel clamp lock. No one is driving it with one of those things on it.

You might also looking into electromagnetic kill switch for your battery. They usually come with a separate key fob. You press the button and it cuts battery power to the vehicle remotely.

I use a Hikeit throttle controller. Plug and play right on the gas pedal. 2 min install. It has a lock mode that locks the throttle so it can only operate at idle speed.

Not if they don't know you did it. If you take it in for service, just leave the switch enabled. Its not like the service techs will be combing through your electrical system to find stuff that you may have modified to see if it voids warranty.

Also, I believe a person has the right to modify their vehicle and can't be denied a warranty claim unless the manufacturer can prove that the modification caused the issue. I can't recall the name of it, but there was some sort of lawsuit about that.

An old fashion “Club” with its lock cylinder facing the dashboard is an inexpensive, quick deterrent that adds at least 1 layer of protection.

Custom bug spat pattern hood, grill & bumper. Dead Live Oak leaf collection under hood, cowl and lower fenders. Beach sand custom floor covering.
So we get cat shields to hopefully prevent our cats from getting stolen and the thieves just steal the entire truck. Cat shields and all.:annoyed:

Couldn’t you just unplug it before stealing it?

100%. If they know what theyre looking for. My controller is disguised pretty well. When i did the install i wrapped both harnesses with a little black electrical tape too. Now if someone tries to steal it and they even guess throttle contoller now they gotta stop, get out and get in the footwell area with a flashlight, untape two harnesses and get out their small screwdriver to disconnect two harnesses then plug the truck harness back into the gas pedal all while my truck is running in my driveway. I was a police officer for 31 years. Time is our friend. These douchbags want a quick kill. They dont want to work at it. On the flipside I also know if they want it bad enough they will get it. Its a crapshoot any way you look at it.

Faraday cage case for your key fob to prevent RF relay attacks while parked.
Put a piece of paper over your windshield VIN to prevent attackers from pre-emptively setting up a technician scan tool, so they can smash your window and plug into OBD2 and drive off in 15 seconds.
Re-pin your OBD2 to short out devices that plug into it by changing the 12V and ground pins(fix it before taking it in for service).
Relay kill switches controlled by remote(bluetooth switches/apps, or wifi remotes)
Any of the multitude of manual kill switches for fuel pumps/starter/etc.

They already have a built in GPS that is part of the data logging black box, which automatically shares your driving habits(speed, braking, sharp cornering etc) that can be tracked with the Toyota app but this is powered by a fuse, so... they might pull this.

Did they drive it away when they took it or did they use a tow truck to drag it?
Good driver could drag it in under 20 seconds.
