I am 6'5". I don't really feel like posting my weight, but let's just say it's comparable to that of an NFL offensive lineman...one of the larger ones. Okay, that awkwardness out of the way...

One of the many things I hate about living during this time is that any car with nice features, like a Tundra Platinum for example, is going to have a big center console. This interferes with my traditional leg posture. In the 1970's with a Cadillac Deville this would've been a non-issue, but I guess the auto industry thinks people are evolving to smaller beings as the decades wear on.

I am not only interested in my own comfort in the truck, but also protecting my panels on the console and the door from my sweat when I wear shorts. Are there any other gentlemen on the larger side here that can offer some advice or ideas on how to accomplish either or both of these goals?

Put a cover on center armrest ... leather will appreciate that :)

also on this topic, don't most here remove the oem running boards/step tubes ? Think those are reserved for under 6 ft people.

edit: rode in new trd pro and had weird time getting in/out with the step tubes.

I'm 6'7" 220lbs, in a 2.5 gen though. I wouldn't worry about the sweat damaging the panels and console, just wipe the plastics down every now and then

    Too many, but not enough....
Sell it and buy yourself a 2.5 gen with a bench seat. I can do yoga while driving if I want in mine.

My dad is more or less a normal sized american male...6’ 250lbs. About 10 years ago he tried climbing into the cab of my 1971 F250. He was having a VERY difficult time fitting his belly behind the steering wheel. He literally started cussing at me for extending the steering wheel and modifying the bench seat so that it doesn’t slide further back in the cab. As hopping mad as he was, i was doing my best not to snicker at his claims.

I am 6’8” and weigh 220 with a 23 Platinum. My right knee touches the console but doesn’t move much as I brake with my left foot. Came from a 2019 Superduty that had more leg room and had to use the running board step to get in and out of it. Platinum has auto running boards, but normally just step in and out without using the running board. I have my seat set about 3 inches from all the way back and high so that my head almost touches the headliner. Just finished a 4000 mile trip and was comfortable driving and used cruise control most of the trip.

I remark to myself quite often that many things are designed without us "Full Size" People in mind. I am Five-Eleven and change, and I had cracked the 300 pound mark. I understand your concerns, but I am sorry that I can't offer any real solution. I run the seat all the way back, and the steering wheel all the way up. I am more comfortable driving with the steering wheel telescoped out a bit, but I have to remember to push it in for exit and entry to the truck. I make a habit of grabbing the handle vs. the steering wheel to get in. Due to health reasons, I have trimmed 26 pounds off , and intend to continue. Obviously this makes everything in life easier...

I am 6'-4" and 230lbs, but I think there is plenty of room in the Tundra. Maybe just because I never really had a big open vehicle like the Cadillac mentioned, or bench seat Super Duty type truck.
Previous trucks were Ford Ranger, Tacoma, 2018 Tundra, so it progressively got bigger.
I also wear shorts a lot, but I don't think there should be any concern about sweat damaging the panels. I clean the truck regularly so those panels get wiped down every now and then.

I also have a Camry, and that is a bit of a struggle to get in and out of, compared to the Tundra, but even then I never thought I was cramped inside.

I am the OP, and in a week or so (I hope) I am getting OEM power running boards installed. Yeah, it will help my wife. But, as tall I I am it will also help me. Or, more specifically, help my seats. My last truck I drove for 11 years, and the panels on the outside of the seat cushions were always breaking due to the posture needed to get in and out of the truck. I'll be using the running boards to help prevent that happening to my new truck.

6'4" all legs and I am more than comfy. If I put the seat all the way back for highway cruising, I can barley hit the pedals I will add I am only 195 LBS, but that doesnt change the length
