I don't even know what to call it. Long story short, I went to the stealership today for oil, state inspection, and tire rotation. I also asked them to drop the spare tire and check the pressure, as I am going on a long road trip in a couple months. They told me they couldn't even find the tire change tool kit that normally comes with the tundra, I asked them to look again because I have never touched it. He comes back still says it's missing. Also states that it is keyed oddly and does not look like the normal crank or whatever you call it that you put the tool in and turn to drop the tire down.

I get home and within five seconds and with a flashlight easily locate the pouch with all the tools in it, including the "key". Had they actually looked they would have found it, because it was precisely where Toyota latches them in on every Tundra!

Just wondering if anyone else has this type? I couldn't figure out how to get the "key" onto the rest of the rod thing (sorry I have no idea what the names of this stuff are). I called the dealership where I bought it new and they had no idea either, ugh!! I included a picture, this is looking through the hole below the tailgate where you would normally stick the rod with hook on it and turn it. Thanks for any help or info!

I remember seeing one a few years ago. The key should slip onto the hook if I remember correctly.

Nevermind, I did some research and apparently it's a spare tire lock SOLD BY TOYOTA, which I don't even want or need, but now I know how to use the end piece etc since the dealerships are f*cking clueless!!

Thanks I did some research on the inter web to see how it hooks in, and it looks fairly easy. Still have to make another trip to the idiots at the dealership (going back to my normal one after this experience) to have them drop the tire and make sure it has enough pressure, it's too heavy for me to do it.... Thanks for your response. Just totally fucking amazing that these people SELL THIS and still have no clue!!

Glad I am learning all of this now and not when I am on the side of the road with a flat!!

    Alot of them
I believe the spare can be flipped so that the stem side is facing down. My spare is in the bed since my spare location is occupied lol.

It sure can. Very first mod I did when I drove the truck home from the dealer.

The wheel lowers and rises slowly as your crank it up and down, no strength needed.
