Anyone have any experience with Diehard batteries? I'm at work and my battery is almost dead. The Firestone on base doesn't carry Interstate any more and said they carry Diehard batteries and a 27F would be $162 and they could get it by early afternoon.

Dont have a 27F but 24F Diehard AGM from advance auto.

No complaints. I ended up doing the diode mod for proper charging.

I run the Diehard Silver in 27F. They are pretty good and have had no issues. I’ve run the ARB duel compressor a lot with the engine off and did not affect it. I’ve installed 2 of them. Stock battery only lasted one year. Put in a Diehard Silver. Ran it over 3 years and then put in another 3.5 years later as preventative maintenance.

For $162 I'd buy it with the expectation that by year 4 it could quit on me. But inside those 4 years you shouldn't have any problems.

Went to the parts store and Advanced is telling me that their system calls for an AGM in the Tundra due to high electrical loads. They had no clue about the diode or charging issue. They really wanted me to get the 27F AGM. The didn't have the 27F Diehard Platinum flooded battery. I told them that I would look into it. The dealer said an AGM voids warranty...wtf.

How does the AGM battery void the warranty? Unless they are talking about the mods on the diode/charging modification you need to make on it?

Don’t know about voiding the warranty but the tundra alt does not put out enough charge for an AGM. @Tundra234 the Diehard Silver is good for the Tundra. Not sure a Plat is even available in 27F

I saw the Silver only has a 2 yr warranty. Are the CCA's high enough? They did have a flooded Platinum in 24F.

Yes, CCA is quite good. I’ve run a silver for 3.5 and replaced it even though it was still good and had no issues..was just being cautious. I’m still running the silver in 27F. If you do go silver, get the 27F and Not the 24 F. The 24 is lower CCA

Yeah im getting ready to go now. I think the Diehard is a better choice over Duralast from AutoZone?

Nice, BTW, did I mention that they leak like a faucet and have to use lots of duct tape to hold the acid in :eek2:

I had alot of corrosion on the positive terminal too. Once they get corrosion on them you'll never get rid of it. I wire brushed it and sprayed it with the battery cleaner. Since it will need to be replaced, instead of $25-30 at the dealer for OEM, might as well throw that towards some SDHQ terminals since I have some accessories hooked up to it.

Believe it or not ~ these things really help keeping corrosion at bay.
I use them on all my vehicles.

I actually had some under the terminal. It didn't stop the corrosion at all.

I'm sorry to hear that. Maybe I'm just anal retentive and like to keep my terminals on my vehicles it the best condition possible.
Works like a champ on my rig . . .
With extra accessories hooked up on you rig you did the right thing in getting the larger 27F battery.
I bought the 24F from Costco as I only really need the battery to start the engine and little else.

Lol @ stealerships saying it'll void the warranty.

I've had warranty work done while my Northstar was sitting in the truck. No one said a thing.

I think you'll be fine with what you got.

I know every time I research batteries for my 2014 they all say 24F, but my truck came with a 27F.
It has a 27F battery tray for God's sake..

You already know my opinions on the AGMs...
    Boo, AGM batteries can GFYS....

My current Interstate MTP-27F is 27F (although it has been dead at the dealership since December), but come to find out, the 24F has more CCAs.
Although the 27F is rated for 'HD & Cold Climate', whatever that means.

    https://www.interstatebatteries.com/product-search-results/2014-toyota-tundra-v857l

Toyota says they are replacing my battery when the cats come in.
I told them I wanted my Interstate back as well.
I'll take it to Interstate and have them charge and test to see if it's still good.
It's less than a year old 30 Month Warranty Free Replacement / 6 Year Performance Pro-rated Warranty..
Y'all might find a new stock Toyota battery for sale in the classifieds..

Good thread. Reminds me that I need to get a new one before winter hits. Do I need a memory saver ?
