The foam on the open close door is decaying and causing a whistle is making me want to punch a kitten. Thanks in advance.

I assume you are talking about the blend door? The system has several sevros and flaps that move depening on which setting the air is on. Floor, Defrost, Dash Vent ect. It also has one that moves when you adjust from hot to cold air. The problem is all of these servos and doors are inside the HVAC box which is under the center dash behind the radio. To do much you almost have to pull the entire dash out.

No, its the door that closes the vents manually. I am very selfish with the ac down here in Florida so when I am alone I like to close the passenger vents and enjoy 100% of the ac. When I close the passenger vents they whistle thru the foam on the vent doors.

Your talking about the actual vents on the dash. A,B in the photo below. Passenger side is a little harder to get too. You are most likely going to have to fully remove the glove box and be careful because the passenger side aigbag is right above it. The vents are a part of the entire dash assembly. If I remember later today when at my garage I have a full dash pulled out and can take some pictures from the inside to show how they are attached ect.

My "C" vent has been broken since I bought my truck. Won't hold any position other than straight down. Also makes a man wanna punch a kitten :D

There is a fix foe that. I pulled the tab off and mute electrical tape between the fingers that grasp the vent. It tightened it right up

Here are some photos. You can see both vents attach to the back side of the dash with screws. Probably not the easiest place to get to and work but at least you have an idea what it looks like.

Please update if you do this. Also live in Florida, and also hate the whistle from the degraded foam. Seems like some new foam would do the trick, just a matter of getting back there.
