Anyone know how much the bed weighs? Payload increase from a flatbed?

Anyone ever removed and weighed the actual bed of a 2007+ Tundra?

I need a truck to carry a cabover slide in camper full time and really don't want to go with any of the "big three" as reliability is extremely important to me. I'm hoping to achieve a payload capacity as close as possible to 2,000 lbs. from the stock 1,395 lbs. A good chunk of weight can be reclaimed by removing the rear seats, and I imagine some can be salvaged by removing the stock bed and getting a flatbed made.

But does anyone know what the regular bed weighs? Ideally the 6.5' bed but anything anyone knows is useful.

 

Thanks! I tried to Google this but couldn't find that. I wish that website said where they got that info. They don't even say what gen it's supposed to be for. Who knows if it's even remotely accurate

 

I doubt you could build a flatbed lighter than the factory bed out of steel. Even aluminum might be a challenge.

 

Honestly I duno what the bed weighs on a tundra but alot of people do the flat bed conversion and a hawk model camper from 4wheelcampers for the Tundra , just get rear air bags (and a bonus if daystar air bag float cups) the main reason the payload is ass on Tundra is the rear leaf springs. Any ways shouldn't ever have to go through a weigh station , and its so assuming by looks. The 16" 4 wheel disc brakes will handle it , the 5.7L will handle it.... PS that small payload doesn't includes passages and fluids , so by the time you have a full tank and 4 people deep and get a bag of chips your tundra's over weight.

 

The GVWR on the Tundra (witch is max) is like 7k it's pathetic as hell. So You might not get no were close that 1,300 mark of payload. Either way its the rear suspension that made it that way. My Tundra just has a canopy and with me 165lbs I sit at 6,800lbs on scales so any time I bring my family with me my two 50lb labs and get wendy's the 4 #6's with large sprites put me way over weight..

Hell a bone stock 4x4 Crewmax Tundra with full fluids and a average family of 4 say 180 , 160 120 , 120 (Father , mother and 2 middle school kids) is 580lbs with something that all ready weighs in around 6,200lbs leaves 220lbs left over. In in the GVWR department. Aint at all trying to be rude but I think a Camry with that family combo and a tank of gas is all ready at max weight.
