They use to be real heavy in the game but I don't know what happened once AFE picked em up. As long as the quality is still there from past times then I'd proceed with the purchase

I had some sway away torsion bars on an 89 Nissan. They were great. I thought they went out of business. I’d give them a shot.

You’re right. I’ve seen people mention them in other threads but nothing in detail or anything recently.

They might be still hanging on to the past with that "quality tested 20yrs" claim but I see that they are damn near 70% off retail and that ain't nothing to sneeze at! Hell, even if they blow up in a couple years you could flip em with a rebuild kit and make some of your money back

They used to be called "stay-a-way" because they would rust like crazy. Personal experience with a few sets, wasn't too great.

Now that AFE picked them up few years back, I have no personal experience with them since. Hopefully they corrected that.

    Sounds good

That’s what I was thinking. Just seeing if anyone had experience with them since aFe picked them up (customer service, performance, and reliability). Mainly to make sure that there wouldn’t be a reason why they wouldn’t last atleast the 2 years like you said.

    That’s what I’m thinking.

Good to know. Thanks for the input. Did yours rust too? How was the performance? Hopefully aFe has noticed this issue and fixed it.

I had the Camburgs (SAW) both for my Tacoma LONG time ago and also picked up a set for the tundra some time ago. Both showed signs of rust, even from living in AZ.

I bought them for a great price, performance was as expected aside from the coating/finish.

Was the rust more like surface rust on the outside or was it rusting internally?

    Function before sparkle.
I was going to mention a similar thing.

SAW is a good product but their corrosion resistance has had issues in the past. Maybe times have changed, but I still would not buy them for a northern truck.

External, rust was enough to actually pit the metals - not just surface rust that could be easily cleaned off. Again, this is just my personal experience.

An old friend used to have an LT Ranger with SAW stuff. Handled and jumped really well. No issues, but this was many years ago. Not sure how they are now after the aFE buyout.

    Thanks for your input.
That’s a great point! I was hoping that with the “overstock pricing” that it was due to maybe to some bad marketing and then falling off the radar but that quality is still good and I stumbled on a deal. That’s why I was hoping that someone was running these post-aFe buyout.
    That’s good to know. Thanks!

AFE hasn't really done anything with the brand since they purchased them. Kind of a poor investment in my opinion. I would personally take my business to a manufacture that you can get some kind of support from. Spare parts, etc for Sway A Ways are not easy to get.

As mentioned, they were notorious for rusting and also turning pink as the red anodizing was not of very good quality.
