    Anyone that switched out their stock tires to the Terra Grapplers 275/65/20. What are seeing in terms of decrease in MPG. Anyone decide to go with another tire -

    I want to go with a 275/65/20 but really nwant to minimize the decrease in MPG if at all possible. Any feedback on this or another 275/65 would be greatly appreciated.

    The 275/60 might be where I need to go, the 275/65 just seems to be "beefier" looking

    On the wheel and tire thread I noticed several people commenting on ride harshness and small drop (1-2mpg) after going to larger sizes. Most tires jump to LT standards and increased load capacity in the larger sizes. You might find what you are looking for in that thread. Im looking to keep ride, noise and mpg close to factory.

    I love my 275/65r20s Pirelli Scorpion AT+. I refused to step up to a 10 ply (E) and these were just the ticket. Marginal, if any mpg loss and rides just like factory with a beefier look

    I had 285/65/R20 Ridge Grapplers on my 2019 Tundra. All I did was a 1.5” leveling kit up front and removed the mud flaps. I had them mounted to 20x9 wheels with a +20 offset. The Ridge Grapplers were quit for an all terrain tire. Grip on wet pavement was terrible, if not dangerous. The ride was noticeably harsher as well but not too bad on a decent road. However, the roads here in Southern California are not decent and many, especially the 405, are down right torture to drive on with stiff load rated tires and an off road suspension. My fuel economy decreased by 3-4 mpg with the tires and leveling kit, but that is the price you pay when you go with bigger tires and a lift.

    I emailed Nitto this morning asking about the difference between the Recon Grappler and the Terra Grappler II. I also asked there thoughts on choosing from the following two nitto tires on a 2022 tundra trd sport edition stock suspension : 275/65R20 116T (weighs 48 pounds) and LT275/65R20 E 126/123S (weighs 58.6 pounds).
    The truck comes with bridgestone dueler 685 H/T 265/60/20 121 E rated tire that weighs 48 pounds. I am real close to going with the 48 pound 116T version and not the LT version. Its maximum load is around 2756 pounds. I'll admit I have very little idea about what I am doing, but I don't see a scenario where I will have a 2700 pound load in my 5.5 bed (and I would think its 2 tires X 2700 pounds = 5600 pound max - but I don't know). The heavier tire is rated for almost 1000 pounds more (3750). I do tow a bass boat but its a tandem axle trailer and i don't see how that load gets close to approaching 4000 pounds. I asked for clarity on the bass fishing forum, but it only started a fight.

    I would love for someone that does not what they are doing to call me an idiot and point out the error in my ways. I am sure there are a lot more knowledgeable people that can tell me where I am wrong.

    And your Pirella's look good. I might try that option as I want to keep my gas mileage.

    The other option I might consider is bridgestone AT/Revo3 275/65/20 126S/E1. It weighs 52 pounds, and it is the lightest 275/65/20 tire I have found with the higher rating.

    From Nitto this morning:

    The Recon Grappler is our newest A/T so it will feature new technology in the tread that will assist in making it a more comfortable and quiet tire on the highway. The 275/55R20 116T is going to be load rated for your vehicle and it will give you a more comfortable ride. The LT metric size is recommended if you are going to be carrying heavy loads as it is going have a higher load carrying capacity.

    The Goodyear wrangler trail runner is 40lbs - 275-60-/20. The dueler at REVO3 is 41lbs. Same size

    In a 275/65/20 the nitto terra is the lightest e load tire I could find at 48lbs. The Goodyear wrangler makes the trail runner in the 275/65/20 and is 50 lbs.

    If you needed the 3750 load related tire to handle the weight the truck could handle they would have put that size tire on as the stock is what I am thinking. I would be perfectly fine with the lower load rate tire.

    I think the nitto ridge terra is the best looking tire and at 48 lbs is pretty good. I am guessing 1-2 mpg loss but am looking for any validation

    @Demar002

    I think the tires that come on the trd sport edition are the E rated tires, so it is for heavier loads, unless my research is wrong. Its the one thing that is giving me pause on using the lighter tire.

    I can tell you the 1794 with the TRD off road package did not have e-load tires.

    I don't think any Tundras ship with 10ply (E load) tires.

    Adding the additional weight rating will give you no benefit. The gvwr for your truck does not increase because you have beefier tires. The brakes, transmission, and suspension are not designed to haul loads over the factory rating, even if you increase the load rating on the tires.

    There are some who argue that the 10ply tires tow better because they are more stiff, but that's all personal preference. Personally, I don't think the loss in ride quality and mpg when not towing justifies the minor improvement while towing. I towed my 4000lb surf boat (boat dry weight only) with my 2018 Tacoma on normal passenger tires and never had any issues. Your Tundra will be fine.

    Well said. Don’t think I’ll ever put E load rated tires on a light truck again. The disadvantages outweigh the advantages for 99% of the driving I do.

    Are there any good 35/11.5/20R (or similar size) tires that aren't E rated?

    Sorry to derail this thread but did your truck come with any faux chrome on it? Mine is similar to yours but has a 'chrome' mustache around the grille along with 'chrome' accents on the bumper and a 'chrome' grille badge. I would like to get the mustache color matched to the truck (blueprint) and the rear bumper highlights to be black, as you have them. What was your process to get these things changed? We can talk about this via DM if thats better. Thanks!

    Not sure. I went with 275/65r20 because they were the largest tires I could find without stepping up to E rated

    DM'd you to help keep this thread focused

    I think Toyo makes some C rated all terrain tires.

    So what are by choices if I want a more aggressive looking tire on my stock TRD Sport rims with no rubbing? Don't care about lifts, just want a better look than that of stock.

    @Clarkshome

    I went deep into this - too deep. I probably compared 20 different tire across 10 different manufacturers. I ended up with 276/60/r20 bridgestone revo 3 AT tires. They are P rated and the only weighed 4 more pound per tire than what came on factory. I did a 1.75 inch level, but you don't have too for those to fit.

    The other 2 choices I narrowed down to were the pirella scorpion and nitto terra grappler G2. I ultimately went bridgestone. It looks slightly more aggressive in person.

    Does the TRD Sport 4x2 & TRD Sport 4x4 have the same ride height. Who has 275/65/20 on a no lift 4x2 and any rub issues? Thanks.

    I have Toyo OC AT3 10 ply 275/65/20 as I did on my truck before this one. Because that's the only way I go haha. I love them.
