I’m looking to combine the front runner bar system with a Retrax XR cover to carry my Tepui RTT.
Is anyone running this combo and cod so, can you tell menos it’s solid/sturdy enough?

Um so when you say FR bar are you talking about the rack itself? Otherwise you could be talking about the mounts that bolt to the bed rail because that’s all there is to it.

I’ve had the FR rack for years. The original mounts are not stiff enough on the rails so they squeak a lot. I then bought the VooDoo bars and had the same problems, lots of movement = lots of noise. I recently got the Victory4x4 rack and put my FR rack on top. Solid. No squeaking. So it sounds like you want to do something similar, which will work no problem. You may have to drill holes to line up the bolts.

The rack is solid. You can put your RTT on it and additional accessories - just as long as the base rack is solid and can support the total weight then you’re good. I actually just took mine off and am considering selling it. The FR rack on top of another rack plus all the equipment is making my truck too top heavy for what I want to do.

Oh man. Even though it's made of aluminum that mofo is not light and would probably cost a lot to ship.

FYI the FR uses slots on the top and under side. Put a bolt into the slot and slide it into position.
Looks like the Retrax uses a Rhino Rack bar that appears to be solid and is mounted by bolting it down on either side with some sort of mount.
You'd have to figure out a way to secure the FR rack onto the RR bar.

Thanks. I’m actually just looking for the cross bars to hold my RTT. I’m trying to find something that’ll work with the Retrax XR T slot rails.

Not to hijack the thread, but I have a set of like new FR load bars for a Tundra for sale. They were installed on my 2017 for about 2-3 months, before getting my new 2021 CM. I am location in So Cal (Temecula)

I appreciate the offer and wish I had known a bit earlier. I just bought a FR rack.

I have FR bars for my Retrax. They seem sturdy enough for hauling stuff, but not sure how they would handle the strain of an RTT’s axial load (when folded open). Might be too much. They are just barely long enough to reach. Be careful not to over tighten the Retrax rail bolts or they will deform the rails.

I also have Yakima Overhaul HD bars for longer items (like lumber, ladder, kayak, etc).
