I've seen the DIY fog mods threads and I'm pretty close to electrically illiterate so I'm more confused than I was before.

What I would like to be able to do is use my factory on/off switch (second twist switch) for the fogs and be able to turn them on anytime. So that could mean turn them on when the low beams are on or when my high beams are on. I also want to be able to turn them off any time because I'm going to be installing some BD fogs and dont want them running all the time around town.

Is this possible to do without adding a new button in my dash and losing my factory twist switch?

I'm also planning on cutting my daytime running lights, will this affect any of the fog mods?

have you read this thread yet? i did it before on my last tundra (2011 sr5) and it worked just as you're stating. lights had to be in at least park lights mode, and fogs could be used independently with brights or dims.

I'm thinking the Eddies V1 is the one I'd want to do...I think... this electrical shit might as well be written in mandarin

i had done a jumper wire. it's been about 4 years since i had done it, but all i had to do was cut 2 wires (i think a grey and pink one) and jump together and it worked great and never had any issues at all!

That sounds like Eddie's V1 if I'm reading that diagram correctly.

How far back did you cut the wires? Not sure how much room I need to give myself.

i gave enough room to be able cut and resplice/solder if needed for any errors. so i think i was about 4 inches away from the harness plug.

I don’t see why not? Mines an off road. Can’t tell you 100% but my instincts say it should.
Looks like a guy with a platinum same year posted on my thread that it work.

I guess it won't hurt to try. Sure is cheaper than purchasing the "Bright Box" product to do the same thing. Thanks..

My 21 pro has it available already. Put your fog lights on, then put your lights to this setting. I verified it today while in the drop off line and also following behind someone looking in their tailgate reflection. It works.

If I put it in that setting only the parking lights will be on with the fogs……I’m confused.

I would rather just install a mod that I don’t have to worry about switch settings……..

The reason why it works in the parking light mode is that the fogs and brights are 4 lights out the front. That is all you can have on at one time by law……

I have the same stalk on my '14 Sequoia, and the fogs do NOT come on when the switches are in the same position as yours...must be something different between the two models.

I was studying the wiring diagrams last week. This mod can be done.

You can do the Eddie’s mod which basically makes the fogs on anytime the headlights are on.

OR you can wire it to a keyed ignition source so that anytime the key is on, the fogs can be turned on/off with the factory switch. Nobody that I know of has done this yet but it will work.

If anybody wants to tackle it I think it takes $20-$30 in parts from the auto chain stores.

First post on this forum. I'm looking to buy a 2nd gen and if it has fogs I will be looking into it. I figured it out on my 2006 access cab and posted on another forum, it was easy to do and enabled the fogs to burn anytime the ignition was on, independent of any other lights. My 06 has been that way for about 16 years with no problem, I run them like DRLs since my truck didn't come with DRLs. I'm going to get the wiring diagram for the 2nd gen and check out all the posts and go from there...

I completed the mod yesterday, and now it works. Even though Eddie's write-up says '07-'08, I can confirm that my '14 Sequoia has the same wiring schematic.

I prefer running the fogs with the DRLs for more visibility. The amber DRL always catches my eye from other vehicles I see on the road. The only time I run the fogs/DRLs is from early dusk to before it's too dark to just have them on by themselves.

Still looking for a write-up (or advice) for my 21 sequoia to get this mod done.
Worried that the wire colors and locations are not the same as EddieV1 write-up……
I got a Britebox from Aspire and it didn’t work. He said he was going to help me get it working, but then stopped answering my emails texts and phone calls. Totally ghosted me!
    Bummer.
    Please help!

I'm slightly confused at how this adds any value. On my 13', my headlights and fog lights are controlled by toggles on the left side stem of the steering wheel. On that stem, the outer-most toggle controls the headlights. There is a separate toggle in from there that turns the fogs on and off. I leave that fog light toggle in the on position full-time. When I turn the toggle for the headlights to turn on, those fogs come on with the headlights and they turn off with the headlights when I turn that toggle to off. In the thread write-up on this mod, what is gained by disabling the fog light switch? I don't get it.

    Pretty things
Because without the mod(s), most (if not all) 2nd gen Tundras/Sequoias are not able to run the fogs w/o the headlights on.

    20211126_125717.jpg

I like to run fogs with DRLs during the daylight hours. Other drivers can see me better...And it just looks cool.

I did the 5min version grounding out the relay, so I can return to factory by putting the original relay back. Worked great for the past 3 years-ish

OK, I see now. I re-read the original poster's write-up and I missed that the fogs come on with the parking lights, somehow missed that and saw that they come on the low and high beams. Thanks for that clarification.
