Nice. What did you use to wire it? Maestro? Did you have JBL or non JBL?

Does it automatically sync up with your phone every time you turn the truck on, or does it make you do it manually each time? Also, how’s the difference of sound vs stock head unit?

It automatically syncs when I’m in the truck and the sound is crisp and clearer. I also replaced my speakers prior to replacing the head unit.

Never changed out a head unit or messed with speaker upgrades, pretty much ignorant to it. However when I have to turn the volume up to 40/50 to hear the audio, that’s when it makes me want to upgrade, sooner than later. Is this something I could do myself or need to leave to a pro?

Do you know if this replacement unit will allow for a front camera to be integrated into it without having to get an aftermarket part like the FRAC harness or anything else to be able to operate a front camera as well? My local car audio place that is very reputable said the unit is already setup for a forward facing camera to be installed. Thanks.

If you click the link and scroll down, it states in the specs that it has dual camera capability.

I have a dumb basic question on these AA/Car Play headunits. Can you still to listen to FM/HD/XM audio while in AA/CarPlay mode for Navigation and Messaging?

Yes you can. I have the AVH-4400NEX and I have an iPod connected to the USB and my Phone is connected via wifi. I can listen to the iPod while running Apple Maps in CarPlay mode and it works just fine. The only annoying thing is if you are listening to any source other than CarPlay and you pick up your phone and launch an app that has audio, the radio will automatically switch to CarPlay.

Plenty of guys here do it themselves. Like you, I’m completely ignorant to it, so I had it done at Best Buy.

Do you loose any radio function on the steering wheel? Would love to do this but I like all the controls and functions of stock just want more volume.
    Thanks

Was just going to say this. It's annoying that you have to go and actually pause the CarPlay audio source before switching to anything else. Not a deal breaker, but a pain in the ass none the less.

There are kits to keep steering wheel controls, the best one out there being the iDataLink Maestro RR that also gives you vehicle info and retains some of the center dash display functions.

Do you still have the parking assist lines when backing up?
