Apple maps carplay no voice

I have tried all the settings I am aware of but I can't get Apple Maps to announce turns etc. I have researched Apple Maps and also Tundra settings but I just can't get it to work. Any ideas for this old man would be very much appreciated.

 

I have the same issue, I think. I remember it talking to me and recently it stopped. I know there was a setting in the Google maps app or somewhere that had to be on for voice. When it on you could see the phone calling itself while it said the next turn, then it would hang up. I don’t use maps much, only in long trips. I just went in a vacation and it wasn’t talking to me. So, look into the phone settings for maps. If I find it I will let you know.

 

Try in here. Settings, Maps, spoken directions. There one that is to speak over radio. This is for Apple Maps.

 

I had similar issue, you have to time increasing the volume at the exact moment the dictation would happen. Even then, music still plays over map directions and messages even though each of those has an individual volume adjustment.

 

Maps for spoken directions is set correctly. DFS any suggestion on how one times that the exact moment the dictation will happen? Maybe when i see the HUD flash an upcoming turn? Thanks

 

^^^^^^^This or make sure the microphone image on maps is not muted.

 

Pretty sure there is an icon on your map screen on head unit. I’ll double check mine. Sometimes when your on the map itself you need to tap the right side of your screen and icons pop up

 

So when your map is on there is no sound Icon until you load a destination. Once you do a destination you have to tap on the right side and then the icon pops up. Just hit it and it should work

 

SOLVED! I finally deleted Apple Maps from my iPhone and reinstalled it. I now have voice directions playing again.
