I'm trying to get brave enough to replace my lower ball joints.

I was thinking of getting them at O'Reilly's, mainly because they will loan me the necessary tools for free.

One of the ball joints they sell, I forget the brand name, has a lifetime warranty.

I'll probably only drive my truck another 100k miles at the very most, so I'm wondering if these are good enough.

    Thanks.

I know O'Reilly's carries Moog ball joints that come with a limited lifetime warranty. They are good. O'Reilly's has some import ball joints that are quite pricier but forgot the brand name.

agree with above comments. I have relatively new Moog upper and lower ball joints on the T100 for at least 10k miles already and they have been good, and i intend to keep the truck for long time.

I replaced all my 2008 Tundra ball joints with Import Direct parts from Oreilly. They've been great and they are much better than the same Moog parts I used on my 2013 Sequoia.

They'll loan you the tools whether you buy the parts there or not.
I installed a Moog LBJ in my '07 earlier this year, search my history and I listed what tools were needed. Unfortunately the cups from O'Reilly's and others don't work with our LBJs.

Just a forewarning, not sure if it’s my specific year but the lower ball joints don’t press out. I’ve seen mixed opinions on it but I used my ball joint press tool with a wrench, then impact wrench, then pneumatic wrench to no avail would it come out. Then I torched it with mapp gas, followed by the press tool. Still nothing… no movement at all.
Now I do work commercial HVAC so I busted out my torch kit lol heated that thing up like nobody’s business, used my press tool. Still no movement! Come to find out, both Toyota and my last resort mechanic I use when I can’t fix something told me the lower ball joints on my year/model were designed to not press. So a long weekend with no results ended up with getting the whole lower control arm being replaced lol all in all I’d find out about if you haven’t done them before.

2nd and 2.5 gen LBJ are not "serviceable" according to Toyota, they want to sell you a complete lower arm. I've heard of others being seized like yours, usually salt belt trucks. Mine came out relatively easy.

Well I got to say you’re lucky lol I was able to get a deal on my lower control arms. Usually I would’ve done them myself but I was over it by the time it was all said and done :spending:

It weren't easy, but I was able to press out the old LBJ's and then press in new Import Direct ball joints from O'Rielly's.

I rented all the necessary tools and I had to call over a buddy who is an excellent shade tree mechanic to help be finish the job, on the driver side only. Next week we will do the passenger side.

The videos on the internet make it look waaaaaaay easier than it is. My truck isn't even a rust belt truck, I live in Arizona, and without exception everything was just jammed on so tight it gave me fits.

That being said, I might try replacing my inner and outer tie rods next...I'm a masochist.
