I have a 2012 SR5 (non jbl head unit) running the stock unit with aftermarket JBL front door speakers, they were put in last year and I lose audio in them randomly going down the road or just sitting they will cut out and decrease volume/bass all of the above. I have the stock speakers in the rear doors and only one of them 1/2 way works, I can barely hear it when I turn the fade to rear, I know the wiring is all good on the front speakers, I haven’t dug into the head unit yet. Has anyone else had this issue? I’m wondering if it’s just the stock head unit causing problems, any help appreciated greatly. Thank you.

1 When did the issues start?
2 How long has this been going on?
3 Is it getting worse with time?
4 Did it start when you put the JBL speakers in?
5 What JBL speakers did you put in?

A cheap way to test if it is the speakers or head unit put the old speakers back in for a couple weeks and see of the issues continue. If it still is causing problems it is probably the head unit.
Also look under the passenger front seat. I think the SR5 has a factory amplifier. If so it may be going bad.

    If it were me.
If you have the Non Navigation headunit with no rearview camera and you plan on keeping the truck for a while longer. Replace the headunit and put in a camera. That would be a big upgrade vs the factory radio.
Crutchfield has the JVC kw-m788bh on sale for $329. This is a good radio at this price
use the CRUX swrty-61s harness and dash kit on sale with the radio $81.99 if you plan on keeping steering wheel controls and already have a factory backup camera.
rear view camera on Amazon $40 if the truck does not already have one.
100 feet skyhigh car audio 16 gauge speaker wire $24
If you only plan on running door speakers I would run new speaker wire from the JVC Head unit direct to the door speakers and bypass any factory wiring. It is not hard to do. Should be able to do all of this in a day.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Checked, no amp under pass seat. Before I put the JBLs in my speakers would barely produce sound, if at all. I put the new ones in and it’s progressively gotten worse, I have a new pioneer head unit ordered, will it make my rear view camera not work if I replace the head unit? It’s not in the unit it’s self the screen is in the rear view mirror

The rearview mirror should still work.
What Pioneer head unit are you going with?
