I just noticed that my passenger side mirror does not seem to be auto-dimming. I have the Platinum trim and the driver's side and rear view both dim. The spec sheet seems to indicate plural "auto dimming outside mirrors". Has anyone else noticed only one mirror dims? It doesn't seem like a malfunction, as I don't even see the faint outline around the mirror on the passenger side.

My TRD sport premium with auto dimming side mirror is like this too. Only on driver side. Someone else said it was same for them. I think they had a TRD OR.

Have you guys reported this to your dealer? If so, what was said? I told mine yesterday; to be honest, they seemed a little overwhelmed with issues. This was added to my list of replacing all four fender flares, rear window trims, and sanding / repainting a quarter panel due to paint issues......of course, don't forget the five weeks I've already spent in the shop for AC issues. It's a good thing I'm enjoying this truck as much as I am, or I might get aggravated, lol.

Can you see a difference in the mirrors? For example, I can see the outline around the outer edge of my dimming mirror vs not on the other one.

If everyone has the same issue it’s probably done by design. Maybe it’s not intended to be on the other mirror.

My build spec sheet says "auto dimming side mirrors" and the manual also uses plural "side mirrors". Also notice Toyota1234 comment above, he has the feature on passenger side not driver's side.

Yes there’s like an extra fine black line around the outer edge on the drivers side. Clearly they are designed different. Just seems odd that one builds frost and one doesn’t. Or at least significantly more.

Hmmm....that would seem opposite of how it should be, lol. I'd think the plain mirror would ice.

I would contact your dealer for a service request. May be loose wiring to the mirror.

It is visually a different mirror. The outline of the area that dims isn't there. It appears to be just a regular mirror. I did contact them, like any other part, hurry up and wait. They said expect a few months.

So I decided to look into this further. Only cause my truck has the same thing, driver side mirror has auto dimming only. I don't believe there is any "standard mirror" suppose to have the Auto dimming feature on passenger side outside mirror. According to the Repair Manual. There is no inspection procedure for the standard mirror to test the auto dimming feature on the RH side, only the LH side. They call it the Electrochromic (EC) Dimming.
RH side inspection procedure: No EC test procedure.

But for the Slide type mirrors, aka Tow mirrors. There is a inspection procedure to test the EC on both side. Seems like Auto dimming on both mirrors is only available on tow mirrors.

    RH Tow mirror inspection procedure.

    LH Tow mirror inspection procedure.

Well, here is the problem then, my spec sheet and the manual very clearly state plural mirrors. Seeing how the spec sheet with vin# was presented at the ordering phase, this is the definition of bait and switch. I presented this argument to my dealer and he too is stumped. There is another thread today where a member presented the argument and the dealer is changing the mirror

If the passenger side mirror isn’t supposed to be auto dimming then they need to fix their literature. It’s gonna cost them $1500 in parts per truck that they end up fixing.

Platinum here with same, drivers side with auto-dim but passengers side without. That's crap when their literature states the truck has this it on both mirrors but it doesn't.
Does anyone out there have auto-dim on both mirrors? Speak up if you do.

I need to take mine in for this as well. The passenger side is certainly not a dimming mirror. As stated previously, this gonna be a costly mistake by Toyota.

Imagine the cost savings to Toyota if they could save the cost on that mirror on every applicable truck sold and no one notices!

This stinks of class action if they don't make right with everyone.

FYI folks, most vehicles are auto dimming on the driver side and rear view mirror only. BMW actually went away from auto dimming on the passenger side completely. Not sure I would even bother bringing it to the dealer and wasting your time. Toyota will most likely tell you to go pound sand. Since it’s not a major safety issue you’ll be lucky if you get anything out of it. Best of luck to you all getting it resolved. Just my $.02.

I can understand what you are saying, but it is very hard to tell someone to "pound sand" when you sold them something, they paid, and you didn't deliver the product. Maybe you have more legal insight than I, explain how this varies from "bait and switch"?

Pretty sure I read before purchase on the Canadian site that it said side mirrors, plural, but it doesn't anymore.

They are obviously aware they screwed up. I have printouts of my build with a VIN on that sheet, so they will have to honor that I would think.

Yes, and they can't take back your manual, lol. It clearly states side mirrors as well.

22 plat, have the same issue. Only driver side has auto dimming. The glare from headlights at night is brighter on the passenger side. My ‘16 LC has auto dimming on both outside mirrors.

I did have the dealer look at it earlier this week and they when they ordered the part based on VIN, they kept receiving the wrong mirror. Right now just waiting to see which mirror they’re sent by corporate.

Also- all marketing literature AND online content does explicitly state “MIRRORS” when discussing this feature.

Same on my Platinum. Only driver side mirror dims and looks different than the passenger side. I'm going to get in touch with the sales guy to see if he can find out what's going on with that.

Knew I read it somewhere, and I'm pretty sure it was on the website too, but still have a copy of the CDN press release.....

The 2022 Toyota Tundra 4x4 Limited is offered with a choice of .... heated and ventilated front seats, power folding electrochromatic side view mirrors, electrochromatic rear view mirror, a wireless charging system for personal electronics, 400 W bed outlet, and a panoramic moon roof.

Long and short of this is that Toyota stated one thing, delivered another. Whether it comes to anything is the question.
