Of all the options I wish I had gotten but didn't with my SR5, #1 is probably the auto/switch folding side mirrors.

I have BSM/heated in my current mirrors, no PVM (so no camera in the mirror) but want to be able to control folding the mirrors via the rocker switch on the door panel and automatically when placed into park.

Can someone provide me the part number (understanding that I would need to replace the door control trim to get the rocker installed) for the folding mirrors? Does the wiring harness exist within the doors where it is generally plug and play?

    Thanks in advance.

The mirrors don't automatically fold in when put in park. The rocker switch has always open, always close, and automatic(which means they fold in when the vehicle is exited and locked). Only way to fold the mirrors when pulling into a parking spot is switch the rocker to manual close.

Stand corrected, thanks for the clarification.....still interested if these can be installed via Toyota Parts ordering/OEM wiring harness or is this in the too expensive or hard to do bucket?

Nope not yet....the biggest question remains whether the inherent wiring harnesses in the mirror and the drivers side door panel can support the added functionality

just remember, pricing out after the fact thru the parts dept is going to be about 2-3x the cost of the factory price (big ticket items will run about 3-5x the factory cost), not including labor. they dont sell anything as a kit, its piece meal thru the catalog.

I’m willing to bet, similar to the Gen 2/2.5, it involves an entirely different /additional ECU that is tied into the the whole system.

I haven’t had a free weekend to download the 2022 EWDs yet…maybe in a few weeks.

Why would folding mirrors require a different or additional ECU? The set up is largely mechanical in nature, understand that is could be tied to the "Park" indicator of the shift column, though all I am looking for is the additional switch on the door panel and the geared mirrors.

I’m not saying for sure that they do, but that’s how it is set up in the 2014-2021. The power fold is integrated into other functions (like seat and steering wheel position memory) and those all function off of a separate ECU. The “switch” isn’t a mechanical switch but rather a PCB passing a signal to the ECU (actually one in each door) to move the mirror.

The more features these vehicles have, the more those features are controlled by computers and CANBUS systems, not mechanical switches.

Do your mirrors power fold already? If not, don’t be surprised to choke at the price of the power-folding mirrors.
Many of us have done the upgrade on Gen2/2.5 (for those, there does exist a truly mechanical switch for folding/unfolding - it was originally used in specific version of the 2007-2009 model years without memory).

Fair enough on your CANBUS explanation. No my mirrors do not power fold....regular ole manual for me.....where I typically park when out and about are very narrow 1910-20s era streets, it is just really convenient to be able to quickly fold the mirrors from the cab.

I hear you there - I’ve got tow mirrors that stick out even further.

when I get some time to dig up the ‘22 wiring diagrams, I’ll see what info I can find and report back.

FWIW, Toyota wants ~$1000 per mirror for the 2014-2021 platinum mirror that can power fold. You have to buy the whole assembly. I expect it to be similar or more for the Gen3, and (I’m not super familiar on the options packages) imagine it’s only available with the integrated cameras.

From what I can see in the OEM diagrams, the switch communicates directly back to the Main Body ECU which then controls relays for folding and unfolding the mirrors. The two relays are listed as MIR RTC NO.1 and MIR RTC NO.2 relay in Toyota's wiring. There is also an additional fuse just for those relays MIR MTR that's a 15amp. It would be hard to say if they already have the Main body ECU programmed for those features or if the door is even wired for power fold without taking a closer look and giving it a try. It's also possible that some trucks are set up and others are not with all the different option packages Toyota has on the lower trim Tundras. If your willing to take the door panels off I would be more than happy to help let you know whats all prewired for you.
