I was looking to build a platform to fit on top of the back seat storage when the seats are folded up. Something to cover the entire floor of so that I can put a portable dog kennel there and other hunting accessories but still have access to storage compartments under the platform. Hard to explain on a thread. Maybe something the width of the truck in plywood with like a piano hinge down the middle so that I can flip up either side to access under it. Has anyone done anything like this?

If you do a search on "dog" you will find info on this.

Originally I thought I needed a platform for my kennel, a Dakota 283 Large. But it actually sits perfectly on top of the storage compartment under the back seat. When I drive my seat is back far enough back it holds the kennel snug and doesn't tip forward. If the wife is driving and needs the seat up it tips forward some, but I have a small ratchet strap on the kennel handle back to the child seat tie down point that holds it level. Other than that I like how I can pop the kennel in and out as needed, don't lose any vertical space above or below the kennel. The single seat in the back also stays in place and is usable for a person.
