Back window trim “stuck”, preventing back window from working?

    Hello,

I’ve had my first gen for a bit over 6 months and love it! I made the mistake of not checking the back window when I bought it. Never had a truck with a rear window that goes fully down!

Anyway, as you can kind of see, the rubber window trim appears to have been caught somehow and is now “wrapped” around the end of the glass internally. I’ve tried to pry the trim back a bit and use needle nose pliers to “pull” the rubber out, but geez it’s stubborn and stuck in there. I hear a click when I press the window button, so I’m hoping I’m getting power and the motor is still functional. It’s a feature I’d really like to start using, but right now it does not work. Anyone encounter this or have any ideas? I figured a Toyota dealership may be puzzled and a body shop will probably try and order all new parts including the actual window and trim pieces.

    Thanks!

You will probably have to replace that trim if its mangled, but if it was mine, I would spray it down with some silicone lube and have someone else work the window while trying to get it aligned with a thin stiff piece of plastic between the trim and window. Good luck.

Recommendation for a thin piece of plastic? When I say the trim is wrapped around the window, I mean it doesn’t want to budge. I’ll try the silicone line.
