My truck went into limp mode this week. The codes came back as P0894 (transmission component slipping) and C1201 (brake boost sensor circuit range/ performance).
It’s a 2007 with 204K miles and it runs great. Definitely no roughness in the tranny. I assumed this was an electrical problem, so I spent the day looking for chewed wires and corrosion. At one point I disconnected my battery and couldn’t get the truck to start after reconnecting. The dashboard lights were flickering, which made me realize it was a bad connection. I cleaned it all up and everything seems back to normal now, the truck runs fine.
My question then is, can a bad connection to the battery trick the ECM into throwing false codes? I’ve only driven it about 5 miles since I got it going again, so maybe I’m writing this too early.

Yes, a bad battery connection can cause a myriad of random codes to come up that end up being phantom codes.
