Hi guys. I have this really really really annoying sound that comes when I turn the ac on. I can't have a quiet drive because the noise drives me nuts
It gets louder as the fan speed is increased.

    How old is the truck?

Sounds like a high pitched whine from a bearing. Seems to vary pitch with rpm so it seems like it would be part of the rotating assembly.

Replace the blower motor and see if that fixes it? Swap one from a buddys truck or buy a used one.

You can take the blower motor out and also bench test it to see if that is the source of the noise.

A new blower motor is only $110 from mail order toyota dealers if you take it somewhere you'll toss that much down the drain in labor for diagnostics.

I had a similar sound in my truck coming from the ac. It was located on the passenger side. So, I had to remove the vent cover to see what it were. Come to find out that a dried leaf was stuck in the line. I got small bits and pieces out with a needle nose. But some pieces broke off in there because the leaf was all dried and brittle. So, I got my shop vac and sucked it all out. That solved the problem.

I don’t believe that it’s your ac motor being bad.

I'm just wondering if there's something stuck in the cabin filter, or if it hasn't been changed in a while, if it's dirty and air is now whistling passed it. On a positive note, it sounds like a jet engine powering up when you turn it up, which is kind of bad ass.

sounds like something is stuck in the blower fan (NOT THE AC). The noise only increases when you raise the fan speed. Open the fan that's below/behind the glove compartment and see if there's something stuck.

When I bought my used Tundra. I replaced the cabin filter and it was above the blower motor and blower wheel and filter had a bunch of leaves and dog food in it. If you do not have really large hands? You can reach down it it and pull anything out of it. Good luck. D

Oh yes, I Forgot to mention if you're going to do all this work and depending on the age of your truck you might as well replace the in cabin air filter

Sounds like a 747 getting ready to take flight! Custom install! Lol j/k. I have the same issue in my 2017 Tundra and everyone says something is stuck in it but I have tried cleaning the filter and blower motor and still exists. No clue

My neighbor bought a used 2016 or 2017 tundra from a guy who had a pecan orchard. It drove great but started throwing some idiot lights on the dash so he took it to the dealer. Turned out the wiring was all chewed up from rodents. They like the soy based wire coating more than the damn pecans I guess. He ended up trading it in that same day for a new 2018...didnt even want to fuck with it.

I bought my 2014 used and noticed once I got it home that the a/c sounded like a C5 on take-off with the blower all the way up. Pulled the blower out and it had a handful of acorns in it. Sounded like new with those gone. It's super easy to pull the motor. I'd do that and see what's up in there. Your motor sounds fine to me.

My truck did the same thing...dealer said it was normal (It was not).

I replaced the blower motor with an OE one (About $100) and the sound went away...until now. It’s back again. However, the dealer won’t replace it unless it is non-functional.

    That’s 2 blower motors in 27k miles.

The truck will go back to the dealer for its next oil change...and I’m sure the blower motor will be inop by then.
