Badges and wheels changed to bronze gold

So I initially plasti dipped my badges and wheels black and meh too run of the mill, then I went with a new dip color called brass monkey which I really liked the look of but was a little too gray and flat. I got 2 new plasti dip products today. One was called dip pearl and the other is an older product called metallizer. I experimented a bit and the badge came out exactly how I wanted. I did 2 coats of pearl over brass monkey, then a light coat of matte brass money , followed by 2 light coats of gold metalizer. The badge is great but the wheels look nothing like the badge for some reason, I did the same steps for both. I'll see how it all looks in the sun. Here are some before and after pics

Thanks Jim. I really like the way the badge looks but the wheels look really odd right now. I'll have to see how they look in the daylight tomorrow. I really like bronze wheels but I don't wanna be too flashy. I watched a bunch of dip your car videos on YouTube and the wheels they do always look so good, lol. I think mine are a fail but we shall see.

When I woke up and took a look the badges looked perfect but the wheels looked terrible. Just s smattering of gold flakes all over. No actual gold color. So I took one more can if the gold pearl to it and did a few more coats. Its now looking okay but more gold than bronze. I'll live with this for a a while and see how they look after a couple weeks. It's very easy and cheap to change later if I want.

Still not in love with the gold. My daughter thinks they are cool though lol. Maybe some black center caps or something? Idk I need to give it more than a day I guess

I could make a template and cut black vinyl, it's very cheap and easy to use

I had some extra gloss black vinyl so I did some midnight experiments. I found out vinyl does not stick to plasti dip, so if I wanna add vinyl to certain places I need to remove the dip. Something I don't wanna mess with much. I did cut out and remove one spot on one wheel and stuck on a piece of vinyl on the center cap. I did not reinstall the emblem but I easily could, also could paint the emblem, change emblems, add a decal, or just leave it naked black. What do you think?

 

I like the black center cap. I will try with and without the emblem. I think it helps the wheels look not so cheap and spray painted lol. I may actually. Not mind the red painted emblem now. Of maybe blue or leave it chrome but not gold.

 

I could and want to black out the areas @2ndgenny suggested, but would have to use plasti dip to do it. I would have to make a template with a cutout for the area I wanna make black.

 

@Major where did you get your center cap decals? I like those

 

You could just paint tape the parts of the rim you don’t want black

 

That's pretty much what I'll do. Just need to make wire the tape won't pull the dip off
