Do y’all think a Baja/ prerunner style bumper would look weird without long travel?

Can’t always tell there’s long-travel ‘til you see the rig in action or look close.

Hmmn, maybe people will be lured by the prerunner bumper, check to see what suspension you’re running, see it ain’t long-travel, then tease you. Which will ultimately help you understand that you need to upgrade to long-travel. :D

There are a few folks here that run those type, low profile, high clearance bumpers. I have seen several pics here on this site. Hopefully someone running one will chime in. I think they look great. They really open up the front end and help with approach angles. I am not a fan of how all trucks these days look so low in the front. That is done to help with MPG and safety of course. With some beefy tires and a little (2-3inch) lift in front they look awesome.

I don't think it would look weird at all, unless the bumper is made wide enough for the wider stance typical of long travel setups. Which prerunner bumper are you thinking of?

I once had a '99 Tacoma "Prerunner" model with a rear locker, aftermarket coilovers and rear shocks and a Duffco prerunner bumper that a local shop made custom brackets and support braces for. That little truck went more places than I thought it could with that setup! The lighter prerunner bumper meant I didn't need a heavier spring rate, and it actually protected the front end when I accidentally hit a solid earthen berm at around 35 mph.

I don't intend to add long travel to my Tundra. Not because I don't want to. I'd love to have a setup like that! But my funds can't justify the expense for something I wouldn't really be able to use or take advantage of. With that said, I'm still considering the prerunner style bumpers offered by SS Built and C4 Fabrications for added front end protection that offers higher clearance and less weight.

Maybe others might think they look weird? I don't know. I think they look pretty cool when I look at photos with them on non-long travel setups. But at my advanced age, I'm beyond what others might think.

I've always been team ADD stealth, but this looks amazing. Wonder what it would look like without your flares though? I wonder if they trim it

Hahaha no, but looks like it huh? @liltrok helped snap some pics of his custom bumper though when I got mine chopped up...

Looks very similar though! I am also in favor of the bumper without LT front.

I'm a fan of those bumpers. Lots of different light options you could do with it if you felt like changing it up at any point. Clean with the body lines as well.

Tube bumpers are fine without long travel, they still serve the purpose of increasing clearance, improving strength, and holding auxillary lighting. I think the stock bumpers are more street truck style anyways
