Hello everyone i hope you all are having a good start to the year mine is starting off a little rough so my truck sat for like 5 months and the battery died i replaced it today and got new terminals when i installed the battery I accidentally made it spark idk what that could have done or possibly contributed to this but when i got both terminals on my headlights and taillights turned on i got in the truck and tried turning them off but the controls did nothing and I noticed my blinker arrows on the speedometer were both on and it was two solid green arrows and when i tried to start it i put the key in and turned it and the radio and the rest of the electronics didnt come on and i didn’t even hear the engine try to turn over what did i do and how can i fix it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like you may have connected the battery backwards, reverse polarity.

Absolute first thing is to disconnect the battery and fix the polarity issue, if that is the case. If you can't figure out which terminal is which, just look for the grounds.

The negative battery cable will split off in a few places and go to grounding bolts on the engine and body.

The positive only goes to the fuse box, and to the starter.

After that, you need to go through every fuse. Hopefully you just blew some fuses and can replace them but it's possible there is damage to various electronics.

This was my thought also. Sounds like the symptoms others who've connected their battery backwards see.

@Evstoyota00 is it possibly the case?

Black is negative. Red is positive.

Your battery is in backwards. Negative terminal is supposed to be on the side closest to the fender. This battery cable, in your picture, is the negative wire, if was connected to the same terminal in the picture, you reversed your voltage.

And yes, black is always negative/ground, red is always positive.

Oh man. I really hope OP didn't connect their battery backwards. I've only seen one person whose truck ran right (or even ran, for that matter) afterward.

If you did, after you install the correct battery (or the battery correctly), if the truck won't start or turn over, you're probably going to want to start to go through all the fuses in the engine bay box and test for continuity, replace any that are blown, including the square ones with the clear-plastic tops.

Then repeat in the cabin fusebox, cross your fingers, and try again

In cars, and electronics, red is always positive, and black is ground (negative).

In residential wiring, however, black is the "hot" wire, and white is neutral. OP will never forget this...

One is a DC system and one is AC. Red can be hot in Your home as well.
Sometimes in the utility world in a DC system black can be positive and white can be negative.
Basically, never trust color codes and always verify with other means

Just look where the cable goes, if it bolts to the chassis or fender, etc, it's earth. Certainly not rocket science.

@Evstoyota00 you got a group size 24 battery and need a 24f. Only difference as far as I know is that the terminals are opposite. Not sure how long you've had it hooked up but I'd get that thing out ASAP and take it back. Good luck with the aftermath of this. You're gonna want to take a look at the main fuse underneath the fuse panel it's probably blown at the bare minimum.

Doubt they'll answer. Been a year. Hope you have a multimeter. Start testing continuity across all fuses in the engine bay and the dash. Start with the basic fuses first. But if this is for a 2016 Sequoia, you're posting in the 2000-2006 Tundras section, so I'm not sure anyone's advice here will help.
