Hey guys was wondering if anyone has upgraded or changed out the terminals on your battery when doing a sound upgrade ? and have brands are you using. Thinking of jumping on one of the knuKoncept ones but wanted to get some input before spending money. Appreciate the info.

I initially bought the KnuKoncept ones, I never used them. I went with the SDHQ ones instead and love them. I will have to make sure I have all the pieces of the Knu ones. You can have them for price of shipping (both + and-)

The stock battery cables use ring connectors, so instead of removing them and going zero gauge cable, and redoing everything, I just added another 4 gauge cable from battery to the alt by changing my terminals to ones that will accommodate several ring connectors without having a fricking 1/2" stack of connectors.

For the alt stud I went with an alt distributor block. They were not cheap though. These I got from GP Car Audio.

I'm not a mechanic, and I'm definitely not an electrician...if it can't be fixed with a hammer it is an electrical problem.

I bought the GP terminal connectors and decided not use them.

This is not my photo, but it is exactly the same battery setup I have in my truck.

Note how there is a slight depression on the battery housing that prevents the connector from completely seating on the battery studs. There is a slight gap below the connector; plus the entire hole in the connector is not in contact with the stud.

Also, the connector is attached to the stud by tightening an Allen wrench screw.

It is very difficult to get access to the screw with a traditional Allen wrench or an Allen wrench bit attached to a socket wrench.

I didn't feel as if I could adequately tighten the Allen screw and I thought the connector might eventually work its way loose.

I ultimately decided I would be making my truck less reliable by adding this connector and instead left things as they were previously.

That s a good point. I ll wait and see how my builder addresses that, or if he even does. I can think of a few ways to solve it though if he doesn t. A covered battery box, or even a piece of plexi glass like they use for passive crossovers would do the trick.
