I’ve had a beard since 1994 after I left the military. It has always been a close shaved goatee but since August I’ve been leaving it grow out. Now I’m finding it wiry and itchy. I started to use beard oil and beard balm which had helped and just wondering if any bearded brothers out there have any favorite beard products they prefer?

I like Honest Amish beard oil. No idea if it actually does anything for my beard or not but I like the scent LOL...

Duke Cannon has a bunch of stuff. Beard wash, oil, and balm. I have all of it.

Actually I have just about everything they make. Except the bars of soap.

They are veteran owned and give a military discount if you check out through govx and they donate to military charities.

Found these guys years ago through a buddy and haven't looked back. Really like their products - I use the oil, balm, and wax daily. Holds well all day as my beard can get out of control without it.

I use and recommend Mountaineer Brand. They have beard shampoo, conditioner, and oil...all in great scents! I’m about 10 years in with my beard, tried a lot of products...definitely my favorite.

I've been using Johnny Slicks for about a year and have used them when my beard was about 3-5 inches long, to 1/4-1 inch long and it does well keeping skin from being dry and itchy. The balms do pretty well too. Be careful tho....they smell good! Like....had 2 kids and now three. My wife may even be 6 weeks pregnant for a 4th now and I havent touched her in 3 months. :eek2:

Shampoo it. Then grab some of your wife’s conditioner too. Then Skin lotion afterwards for the first couple of weeks.

Pick a scent of any of the “for men” shampoo/conditioner 2 in 1 varieties. That should let you maintain itch/wiry free feeling

    Worked for me anyway

My beard is about 3” long, currently. I don’t ever use soap/shampoo/body wash on it. A few times a week I’ll scrub it in a hot shower with my finger tips to remove some oils, grime, and dry skin. Daily, I blow dry it, and use a combo of a straightening brush and straightening iron to shape it. Then I work a dime size dollop of Honest Amish beard wax in it that helps it hold its shape pretty well all day. That routine works well for me, until I go somewhere and have to wear a damn mask. If any of you guys know of a mask that doesn’t wreck your beard, please share with the rest of us.

I work with a guy that found a mask made for beards. The problem is it looks like a pair of you know what’s on his chin. I use a typical neck gaitor style mask. It’s not perfect but it’s better then a standard face mask.

If your beard is itchy and or lots of dandruff its likely a mild case of psoriasis, Selsun blue every 2-3 days works great. My beard is long enough to braid, I blow dry every day and only use a wood comb. I also oil and brush every other night.
Eucalyptus will irritate a lot of skin so watch for it.
I have yet to find a wax that holds up to the heat here in the South.

I'll second Honest Amish and Duke Cannon's stuff. I use their Bourbon beard oil to keep the beard from drying out; and then Honest Amish (a bit) to form it up. I don't have the longest beard (about 3") but it's long enough that I need to form it.

(Fun fact: Cracker Barrel sells Duke Cannon stuff.:thumbsup:)

There's some stuff that I've used that I'm not that fond of as well; anything 'Cremo', and I tried to like Viking Revolution, but I just couldn't get into it.

I use BeardBrand Utility Balm, most of their scents are pretty good. I use their mustache wax to tame my 'stache too. I sweep it to the side, a la Brett Keisel, to keep it out of my mouth. It also lets me drink beer out of mug with out the residual dripping.

I keep my beard between 2"-5" in length. Depends on my mood and outdoor temperatures. A couple great products I have used for a reasonable price are Thunderbeard beard oil as well as the beard oil from Duluth Trading Co. Both are reasonable price and take the itch factor away when used daily.

I second the post that said Cremo products are less effective. That oil never seemed to have the effects of the better brands on itch factor and softening, even when using larger amounts.

I use Cremo. Both their oil and face / beard wash.
The problem I have with my my beard is it grows too quick. I prefer to keep it clean / trim and it just grows too quick.
