Anyone else experience bed bounce? especially on concrete highways with expansion joints? C-470 is especially bad between golden and Morrison. Can’t imagine going on a road trip and having long sections of highway like this especially with my newborn on board. Hoping to find an easy fix to this but it might be a good excuse to upgrade my suspension or get a topper to help even out some of the unsprung weight. Seems like the trd package would give a little smoother ride?

I’ve got a 200 lb leer camper top, plus I’m running some Coachbuilder +3 leaf spring shackles. I’ve been on that stretch of road a while back and don’t recall any bounce, but the extra weight and beefy shackles help I’m sure.

I get that between Castle Pines and Castle Rock on I25. Weight in the back helps like when I'm packed with camping gear, but empty it's brutal LOL

Adding useful / practical weight helps: a LEER or similar top adds about 200 lbs., Line-X maybe another 100 and a thick rubber bed mat could add another 100.

Has anyone boxed in their frame rails and noticed if that fixed this? The frame flexes right at the back of the cab, thats where the energy is transfered that causes the horrendous bed bounce. Its just a design flaw between materials, flex built in, and wheelbase length.

Been watching Craigslist for any good deals on toppers, kicking myself for not jumping on one that I saw back in April brand new for $900 but it was right after I bought my truck and didn’t have much extra cash for upgrades at the time. Probably the easiest functional remedy I can think of so far to reduce/fix bed bounce issue

Do you have a lift or add a leaf on the rear as well or just the coachbuilder shackles that would run with a +3 lift?

Same here with my 2019 crew max. It’s really bad on 25 heading south of 470 also. It’s fun drinking coffee in the morning. Lol. It does prevent texting and driving though.

I don't live near there, but yes.....segmented concrete highways were brutal. My wife's DD's would uppercut her in the face if she didn't hold them down. Weight in the bed helps. So does a TRD Pro suspension.

Ya the bed bounce is horrendous around here! Not sure what it is about Colorado but apparently it's not much of a problem in other states. If anyone finds a fix to it I'd love to know! I've had it be a little less dramatic when I have the bed packed full of stuff but never managed to have it fully go away

These trucks are made to carry weight in the bed, add weight to smooth out the ride... typically, the longer the wheelbase the smoother the ride.

Trying to convince myself at this point that it’s more of a case of poor highway construction in Colorado than a design flaw in our trucks. Glad to hear it’s not like that as much in other states. I’ve never had this issue in either my 4runner or Tacoma. Going to keep searching for a solution so I can enjoy a nice smooth ride!

I had thought about that too along with tire pressure. Right now I still have the factory Michelin AT’s 275/65/18 that came on the truck when I bought it, but this Friday I am getting a new set of duratracs 285/65/18 load range d. Installed

Search: "bed bounce". There are some alleged fixes but nothing ever seems to do it besides speeding up or slowing down.

Also search YouTube. There's a dude here in SoCal that has a weight he uses in the bed. His "before" video is a good visual representation.

Ya around here I know if I keep it above 85 it pretty much disappears. But considering tjays usually 10-20 over the speed limit, probably not the best solution haha.

Someone mentioned it might have to do with the temperature fluctuations causing the concrete to have to expand and shrink so often around here. I feel like that might be part of the reason it's more of a Colorado problem

There's a stretch of I-40 in Albuquerque that's really bad even w/my ADS suspension.

It happens in every state. It is harmonics that don’t jive with the way modern highways are constructed

Damn and I was hoping throwing a camper shell on would do the trick with adding a little weight on the rear. Looks like it’s time to invest in a welder of my own, but hey then I can cut and weld some body panels on my 4runner and do it the right way on there as well. Nice work!
