Is there a bed cover that works with the factory rail system? I hate to take that out and would prefer to have a retractable one over a tri fold.

I have heard that the Bakflip MX4 works with the factory rail system but that is the only one I have heard of so far. Looking to better understand all options.

    Thanks in advance

I bought an Undercover Flex from @SantanaRealtruck and it works with my factory rails. That is a tri-fold.

With the BakFlip MX4, you remove the factory slide rails, install the MX4 rails, then re-install the factory rails.

I went with a trifold as I didn't want to lose any of my short bed space to the cannister for a retractable.

Very happy with my Bakflip MX4, which comes with the drop down brackets to retain use of the deck rails, which get remounted a little lower. I know there are a few others that let you keep the rails.

Pretty sure the Retrax retractables retain the rails, pretty spendy but I've heard good things.

Bakflip MX4 with Elevate TS rails and racks.

I have the Backflip F1 which has the same install as the MX4 -- Just better bed cover materials is the only difference between them.

    Great looking setup!!

Not to hijack the thread, but does your bed carpeting keep the dust out? If so, is that a carpeting kit, or did you custom make it?

    Thank you!

I'm really happy with the setup, I used to always run camper shells but it's getting harder every year to crawl around in there, this setup suits my needs and lifestyle very well.

The carpet is from Bedrug, search on "Bedrug" and you'll find lots of threads & posts on here raving about them.

Feels like carpet but it's made of Polypropylene so it doesn't absorb water, dries fast, and doesn't mildew. They have just the bottom mat or full bed configurations and they're model specific so they fit perfectly.

Nice and cushy for my old knees too!

I talked to a guy who spilled a gas can in his, he took it to the carwash and blasted it with the soapy power nozzle then parked on a hill in the sun... good as new!

Thanks!! I live 7 miles from the nearest pavement, and I'm sick of my tonneau covered bed collecting dust. I've never understood why manufactures can't figure out how to seal the tailgates better. The Bedrug may be my answer.

Ugh... Yeah, I think fine dust is harder to keep out than water in that scenario.

I haven't done as many miles in the dirt as I'd like, but quite a bit on a few camping trips and it didn't seem too bad.

Your setup is pretty dialed! I think this will be the route I end up going, looks fantastic!

Thank you sir! I appreciate that.

I was fully intending to put a shell on this truck when I bought it as I've done in the past, and totally changed plans after i got it.
The main reason I used to run toppers is the security to be able to lock up surfboards, gear, etc. which I still have with the tonneau, but I really like having more use of the open bed if I need it.
There were times the the cab high topper was very limiting in what I could haul.
This is kinda the best of both worlds I think.

I want the ability to use the bed if needed, which this setup would do. How difficult is it to remove the telescoping racks? Looks like it wouldn’t take too much time.

Not bad, 5 minutes off, maybe 10 minutes on. A little longer to put them back on if the bolts have moved, just to line everything up. (I usually pinch my finger putting them on cuz I'm stupid.) :( Two nuts on each corner, so 8 total. I take the racks off when I go to the car wash.

I put nuts back on and just snug them so the T-Bolts in the T-Slot rails don't slide around.
