Bed Extender Fun

Trying to find the:

Genuine Toyota Bed Extender PT392-34220

is turning into a real chore. Google search finds "several" Toyota dealers but shipping to CA seems to be the killer. Sparks parts wants $288 for the extender and $320 for shipping! Treasure Coast Toyota $282.99 + $150 shipping.

Ummmm why are they so recommended around here??

Not looking for free shipping but damn. Any recommendations for places that might be more reasonable? My google-fu has failed me.

P.S. - I have the 5.5' bed so I *need* the extender, no hate please!

 

Too bad you’re not in the Dallas area. I would have sold you my new bed extender off my 23 platinum truck. Was a forced port add on.

It’s weird that they charge so much for shipping. Other than it being on the larger size, it’s fairly light. If I had to guess probably around 50 bucks through UPS.

Not a great picture, but Ready Ramp, works great, has clips that lock into the tailgate. Just an option - I have used this on three different tundras, 05/08 and my23 here.

Just get the Amp research full sized one and the latch brackets on Amazon. Unless there is wacky pricing out there for Amazon that's 320-330 shipped to your door.

Also my ready ramp was 350 shipped with tax and I'm very happy with it. Heavier duty piece than the tubular ones for the same price. No bolt, no drill.

I do like the "no drill" mounts too, much better than what I had to do to my new Tacoma back in the day.

 

I see you have the tonneau cover too. Does the bed extender fit under the tonneau cover folded in with tailgate up?

 

It does! There's about an inch clearance.


This will definitely be useful since I have the 5.5' bed.

That price is insane. Look my readyramp isn't as trick and slick as the foldout options with upgraded brackets but for 250 it does basically the same things. Otherwise if you can't find a discount on these things just go on Amazon and find one of the better known knockoffs of the amp research brand with a no drill option.

I just got the bed extender for $270 from my local dealer just by asking for a price match. They don't charge shipping for local pickup (at least mine didn't), so anyone looking for this just ask your local parts department to price match what you find online.

 

I picked up a readyramp because I have a dirtbike, so it’s dual use. I find it very secure and works great!

 

Dang, that's a bummer. They do ship the extender fully assembled in a ginormous box, so it stood to reason that they would eventually realize the shipping costs were a losing proposition.

Try other dealers and use the "freeship" code? Maybe you'll catch one asleep at the switch like I did.

 

Does anyone have the dimensions for the OEM bed extender? I have a tonneau cover and want to make sure it would fit. Also does anyone recommend a specific dealer in the DFW area to get this from?

 

I have one but have never used it, I just use ratchet straps instead

 

What dimensions do you need? I can say that it does fit under my Bakflip tonneau.
