I noticed the other day that the bolts that attach the bed of my truck to the frame appear to have the factory spray in bed liner cut off around them with a razor knife like the bed was removed at one point in time before I bought it. It seems like the factory spray in bed liner would either cover the bolt heads too or be applied before the bolts are installed? Anyone else ever notice something like this on their truck or can confirm if their spray in bed liner covers the bolt heads too just curious.

Some shops will remove the bolts before spraying; it eliminates issues with the bolts later on. Not sure about the other issue but if it's only towards the cab end of the bed, there are bed drain holes where the bed's deck connects the the bed's bulkhead. They may have cut it to prevent your bed from turning into a mobile kiddie pool.

Mine didn't sprayed with liner. I definitely prefer that way.

Some people like me will not accept it with the bolts covered, that is stupid that anyone does that

    I agree with @azTony
A proper application includes proper prep. This is just lazy and careless.

That’s what I would assume if it was an aftermarket spray in liner that they might remove the bolts first before spraying but being factory I don’t know if it’s standard for them to remove the spray on liner just from the bolt heads to prevent any issues down the road? Another thing I noticed was there is a sticker on the right side of the bed where the tailgate closes by the brake light that has been masked off with masking tape and sprayed with the mgm paint (same color as truck) like there was touch up paint work? Also my tailgate does not have the factory 4x4 badge on the lower left hand side makes me think that the tailgate might have been replaced? Do all 4x4 models come with the 4x4 badge from factory?

I'm tracking now. It sounds like you suspect that the bed was repaired. Based on the clues you've highlighted I would suspect you are right.

They still spray after truck delivered to the dealer. They don't spray at the factory.

My 2019 with "factory" spray in bed liner has the bolt heads sprayed as well. I dont see any score marks sround the bolt heads. My guess is that your bed has been removed at some point.

My factory spray also covered the bolts. :( I don't even think a T55 would even fit in there, certainly not without tapping it in with a mallet and then, more than likely, damaging the spray on the bolt.

I’m starting to guess that it was removed to be repaired or replaced at some point now too... the carfax that the dealership provided had one report on it that said damage to vehicle but didn’t have any specifics on what type of damage or repair that happened... I wonder if there’s a vin# on the bed or tailgate anywhere that I could see if it differs from the dash vin tag

If you know anybody that does body work they’d be able to fine tooth comb it and identify the repair area.

Bolts should not be covered with bed spray...... period.
