So I have been trying to figure out some ideas for bed organization that is outside of the standard tool box because I want a full-length tonneau. Some ideas depend on the tonneau itself, and some don't. Some are permanent (or semi-permanent) while others are movable. What are you running? Here are some things I found so far. What are you thinking of doing?

DIY separators. 2x8 separators cut to the dimensions below (3rd gen).

Cargo bar. Removable and can place anywhere, although I am not sure how safe it would be to use on a plastic bed...? If you ratchet that hard, you may create a pretty big pressure point and may crack the bed liner.

Cargo management gate. Looks like a cross between the 2x8s, the cargo bar and a grate. Looks useful and easy to remove and store even in the bed when not in use.

Truxedo Cargo Luggage. Cross between cargo bars and a tool box. Easily removable. Seem to use the truck's rails rather than a ratchet bar so safer on the liner.

Truck Panniers from Truxedo. Use the truck's rail system and are transportable. Soft sided so not suitable for heavy/sharp objects.

Bed Extender. Can be flipped to handle longer cargo and can prevent things like groceries from shift when in storage mode. Can be used with bed mat and can be removed if needed. Can add a net or hooks to help hold things when in storage mode.

Swing cases by Undercover. I recall that when Toyota released their accessory list, these swing cases were on that list. Here in Canada, they aren't offered by the dealer at the moment (or maybe never), but they look pretty cool. They can be lifted off so that you can take your tools where you need to (albeit in a cumbersome manner), they are lockable (both cover and to the bed), and they have a shelf. Some people with longer beds might not benefit from the wheel well cover since there is ample space.

Toyota side trail bins. Not sure if these will be made for this gen, but I think they were in the past. Not sure if they are removable but do offer a hard case for storage.
    images_b229f2977ca92e46eee52b868da0dfa6eb2e8625.jpg

Diamondback Cross bin 8 or 13 - works with Diamondback HD and SE covers. Are removable. the Crossbin 8" allows for a good amount of room under the bin for your cargo. Diamondback also makes side boxes as well
    [IMG]

Bakflip Bak Box 2 - foldable so it remains in place, but can fold it out of the way if you need the extra cargo room. Works with Bakflip covers (and maybe the OEM tonneau since Rev, a subsidiary of Bakflip, makes the OEM cover).

Pelican cargo cases. Can be mounted to the roof or in the bed. Seem to be removable and pretty tough.

Decked tool box with ladder. If I was to go with a dedicated tool box, it would probably be something like the Decked tool box since it comes with a ladder. With no side (or even bed step for that matter), this is a no-brainer.

DIY bed drawers. Not for me because I am not putting a cap on the bed for now and the loss of space is a deal breaker for me right now, but I love this organization. Great organization for anything you are thinking of doing with your truck.

Decked bed drawers. Same benefits as above and can put a bunch of weight on top of them.

So far, I'm very pleased with the Bedslide and mini-cargo bins. I plan to buy or build something over the wheel wells forward. The minbins can be secured anywhere from the end to the wheel well. I have mine set about ¼ inch from wheel well to allow me a little storage at the end on the sides for jugs, paint, etc.

As a joke my wife got one of those during COVID. Me, her and the 5 year old goofed around and had some good fun in it for a day in the back of the Crewmax. The boy actually just brought it up the other day and asked if we can pull it back out and see if it’ll work in the new truck’s 6.5 foot bed.

Hey Guys ... Has anyone tried Roll-N-Lock cargo divider? I am interested to get one and looking for some advice/ experience with it. Questions I have are -

    1. I have Toyota 3 piece hard cover, would the cargo divider work with it?
    2. Any knows rattles/ issues with it?

Thanks in advance for sharing your advise... Thx

    None, yet
Are the measurements for the DIY separator for the drop-in bed liner or sprayed beds?

There is no drop-in bed liner and I don't see how the spray in liner would add much so the dimensions should be good for both the regular bed and bed with the spray in liner.

I have the cargo bar in mine. I have dual swing cases from my last Tundra. They are not installed because I regularly haul a load of plywood and would have to remove them because the stick past the inner fender humps. Ya they come out easy but that just one more thing to deal with taking in and out. I will eventually throw in some of the 2bys with 6° angle.

I got the XT1200 from Highway Products. The main advantage (like with Decked) is the ability to put 3/4 of the bed out in front of you. Can be a real leg and back saver, and it locks every 10” so you can essentially extend your bed for really long (flagged) loads on short trips home from Home Cheapo or bLowes. It includes numerous slots for e-track cargo tie downs.

    https://highwayproducts.com/truck-accessories/truck-bed-slides/xt1200/

I don’t miss the “lost” storage on the sides like I thought I would. Not the most conspicuous or flashy mod, but definitely the best one I’ve done so far for my uses. Kind of like having your first air compressor; you never knew how bad off you were before you got one.

do you use anything to keep it from bouncing around in the back? I was looking at those too but didn’t want to mount it across the bed

I have my spare mounted in the front of the bed laying flat using nFab secure straps that bolt to the bed, the tire does not move. I am looking for something to mount over my tire and provide a flat surface all across the bed on top of the tire. It will mount below my BakFlip cover. Have not got it going yet but it is a vision

Has anyone used the Pelican system? I'm very intrigued, however the Tacoma bed mount system (which I assume we would use) seems to hold the box up higher than the bed rail top, presumably to accommodate the shallow depth of a Tacoma bed to the top of the wheel well. I'd like to install this but with the top of the cargo box even with or below the top of the bed. Any thoughts?

Would like to see a pic of your spare mounted if you have it. And… were you going for more clearance where it is normally OEM mounted or just going for faster accessibility?

I don't have an answer, but having used a generic no name brand, Cargoglide, and now Bedslide, I think it comes down to ¼-½ inch differences, nothing Earth shattering. At least that's been my experience. The Highway Products in the above post looks quite nice and will probably be my next one, but it still looks about the same for height.

I've had quite a few people reach out in reference to the Bedslide model number for the Tundra so I thought I would post some info on here to help. With Bedslide, the model number is the dimensions. I bought the 15-6347-cg; The 15 indicates it's the 1500 lb capacity and the 6347 are rounded off dimensions (63 inches X 47). I'm not sure where they stand now, but back in Feb., when I bought mine, the Bedslide rep. told me there was not a specific model planned for the Tundra at that time. To be honest, the tweaks would be so minor to these dimensions, I don't think it would be worth their effort.

I think this is what I found when I was looking. It was a concern for me because of the bed cover (Retrax). And while I can’t say that combination hasn’t caused me grief (wanting the cover closed and height of the slide wouldn’t allow it), I would give up the bed cover for the slide. Again, for what I do and the physical limitations I have to be careful with.
I’d recommend if you’re researching, *call* the manufacturers - the web research is great, especially with a glass of bourbon close by, but will only get you part of the story. After a fairly extensive phone conversation with HP customer service, I knew their product was the right one for me.

My custom halfwidth bedside. Allows mee access to the cooler while still letting me haul long stuff like shovels on the other side. Shown here at full extension but let's me reach the back easy enough.

That’s awesome - do you have something under “Builds” or something showing how you built and secured the drawer undercarriage?

I don't have anything specific. I bought the drawer secondhand but it was custom made by someone. Some C-channel and $20 roller bearings and a sheet of carpeted plywood. I secured straight to the bed of the truck with some aluminum angle pieces and some bolts. I was searching for months for a bedslide or other solution and just happened to find this half-width option. I love it. Best of both worlds. My Yeti is permanently installed on it.

Has anyone installed the Decked Tool Box? Went to order one today and during checkout, they mention (with photos) the box overhangs on each side roughly an inch or so due to the bed width. Not sure I want to pull the trigger yet until I see some more images... Quality box though

At the moment the bed of my truck is full of the house “stuff”… having the entire floor replaced under warranty.

I can take a picture when this is over which will be about 2 weeks. I chopped the rear fenders and have a custom bumper and the spare can no longer mount in the factory location because the trailer hitch is now there.

I ended up going with the Pelican cargo case for mine. I liked the idea of the bedside mount for the Tacoma to use the deck rails, but it appears that, due to the shallow bed depth of the Taco, this mount puts the cargo box tops above the edge of the bed so it can clear the Taco wheel well. I ended up using the universal bed mount paired with Cali Raised mounting hardware so that I could mount it deeper into the bed. I’m Pretty happy thus far. I also appreciate that these can be flipped so the lid can open to the outside of the bed or the inside.
