Guys I am trying to take the bed rails off to install a bakflip revolver tonneau.

I hate Torx and have stripped a couple already when trying to take it off.

Given the bed rails... the heads are hard to get to. I’ve tried to create notches with a drimmel to get traction with a flathead and did pretty well and even the notches stripped. Thing is in there tight!!! Ugh.

Can’t be the only one with this problem... anybody else figure something out?

I've never run into a problem removing them except for some that were rusty. Make sure you're using a T30 and not a T27. Worst case (and what I've done in the past) is you can grind the head off, remove the rest of the screws and the rail and you should have enough of the stud left to grab with vice grips and turn it out that way. If I remember correctly, the replacement size is M6x1.5.

Drill them and use an extractor.

Make a slot on top with a Dremel and use a flat head screwdriver to take it out. if there is enough room for a Dremel.

Drill into the center and use an extractor. You can get stainless steel allen head bolts at Lowes for a replacement.

    None. Keeping this one stock.
Had same problem putting them on, because the instructions call for foot pounds, but the Nm equivalent is actually inch pounds.

My apology. @Theshark. You already tried that. :facepalm:Another good source for nuts and bolts is Orchard Supply Hardware. They always have what I needed. Good luck.

Use the right sized torks head bit, use an impact driver and push down on it until it’s out. I use torx head screws in my construction work all the time and they are by far the best screw head.

I came here looking for a source for new screws and found this thread.. mine were 7/8" T30 and the first few threads are a smaller diameter than the main thread.
Looks like they corroded on the back side. Like Eric said above, I was able to get them out with a little cordless impact driver though.

Just found what look like the exact bolts here: https://www.amazon.com/Rexka-Washer-Fender-Metric-Thread/dp/B083QM987V
