Good day fellas, just finished my exhaust install and while I was down there I decided I wanted to get after the rust that’s on the underside of the bed this spring.

Does anyone know how much the bed weighs?
Is it a two man job, or more of a four man?

    thank you

Considering how awkward it is I would guess 4 man if you don’t want to drop it.

I think someone used a tree once with some straps and a cumalong to get it off by themselves.

I could picture using an engine hoist myself.

    It's good
Weight alone, two strong men might be able to do it, but the shape of the thing says no. And, it doesn't lift straight up. The back of the bed has to come up slightly, then the whole thing toward the back back to clear the front of the bed from the cab. 4 men with gloves.

If you had a hoist that had the reach or came from above center bed, that works. If you lift it off and put it down somewhere, have a plan as to where to put it and on what.

I have a buddy used an engine hoist to lift off his 2005 F250 bed.
I used 3 buddies to swap my '02 Tacoma bed. 4 made it real simple. 2 would have done.
On a Tundra I'd use 4 people, it's longer & wider & you need to lift it off/around the filler neck, hard to maintain control for 2 people.
Some folks just raise the bed with some blocks of wood to work on the underside - you could do that solo, but what a PIA.
old bed off - standing up so much easier to deal with (didn't take pics of the new bed for some reason)

I’ve aided in a few bed removals. 3 guys can do it. One on each side, one on the back.

I did mine with me and the neighbor both on and off without real struggle. 3-4 would make it cake but 2 was very doable.

When I fixed the rust in my bed, I used ratchet straps and hung it from the garage rafters. Worked out well, and just relaxed one side at a time to tip it up..

Is it just the 6 bed bolts, unclip taillight wires, and maybe a couple screws at gas filler neck?
If using straps or hoist overhead, what is best place to hook onto bed for lifting?

Edit: just noticed i ventured into 1st gen thread but I assume same process for newer gen too.
