Utlimately, I am looking for photographs or examples, any personal experience, or an overall opinion. Since the purchase of the truck, I was set on doing black Line-X on my rockers to avoid nicks, dings, scratches, and the annoying black tar spots. After I undercoated in 2016, I have grown to HATE the last lower piece of white under the rockers, as they are always dirty, black from the build up I cannot keep up with.

With the fact that I don't have money or immediate plans to changing either bumper (chrome on front, white on back, why Toyota????) I don't think a Stormtrooper look is going to work for me. So, I am about to ditch my Line-X rocker idea.

What I can tell you is that I am going to purchase Super White Bushwacker fender flares (30918-13) and accept the fact that black fender flares will look weird against a chrome or white bumper.

My Line-X on rocker idea was reignited when I found a Tacoma online that had black rockers, but they faded the end toward the front, as they too had white fender flares.

I'm rambling now, but thoughts on black rockers? I need to decide before I install my black Line-X SDHQ sliders.

1st pic is mine, followed by the obvious Tacoma example. Last is the general look of the Bushwackers that most of you are already familiar with.

You could always get a can of the home done truck bed liner and just put some of that below the rocker panel to help with any issues

My bottom along with my flares are Line-x. Not the exact scheme you're looking for, but that is just going to be personal preference and messing around with the layout. Get a roll of masking tape and see what lines work for you.

Regardless of what you decide looks best, you can't go wrong with Line-X on the bottom of the body and the rockers. It sprays off easy with a hose or pressure washer. It looks good with spray wax, armor all, tire shine, really anything makes it look like new again. I had the bottom of my 4runner done the exact same way.20171028_151443.jpg

That's a really good idea. That gets me thinking to do that lower 1 inch strip and do my own sliders too. My Line-X Premium quote for SDHQ sliders is at $300.

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, just to help with rock chips and should help with preventing some rust after you chip the paint. On gravel roads enough along with the sand and salt mix we use here. The sound of that stuff pinging under the doors annoys me since I know it acts like a sand blaster.

I forgot to mention check with a body shop, they sometimes have products like line x but not as thick and can color match. One I used on my 2012 was on the lower rockers behind rear wheels to help with chips. C

OBX, that truck looks great. Color combo with the line x looks nice

I had my truck's rockers and just around the wheel wells done after couple months of ownership. Driving a lot of gravel back roads was quickly taking a toll on the paint. Add to that the salt/pea gravel mix they spread on our roads thru the winter months, and before long, my poor truck wasn't going to have much paint left on the lower rockers, etc.

Mine was 'color match', so not at all the look you're going for, but the Linex is doing what I wanted it to so far. Good product.

And it does have SDHQ sliders... ;)

The color match that others have mentioned is also a great option. And there are a lot of other products out there besides the Line-X brand. A local aluminum fabricator that I use a lot through my work is a dealer/applicator for:

    https://marvelcoatings.com/armadillo-liners/

We use this coating on or ATV's, UTV's, Gators, and truck beds at work. Less expensive than Line-X. Seems to hold up better and fade less. If I needed a personal truck or vehicle coated this would be my choice. I've seen the color book, it's pretty extensive. The coating is just as thick, but a little less rough than Line-X. It still has a "rough" texture, but the finish itself is more of a satin opposed to Line-x which I feel always looks flat after a few months. The armadillo is easier to get clean with just a hose.

My local line-x guy warned me not to use white because it would get dirty and change color over time. From others I’ve seen with white line-x bumpers, it looked dirty
