Can anyone point me to the best set of evo one remote start install instructions for dummies??? The printable ones are confusing to me, saw some videos (3 part series) but thought there might be something better out there. Thanks in advance!!

The printable ones are for dummies. I don't think it gets any easier, even with my limited knowledge of 12v wiring, I would have hooked mine up using them as a reference. I had a buddy who could solder help me out and he and another friend knocked out the whole install, so I didn't do anything except rip apart the interior for them. (If you happen to be reading this, thanks again guys) They even commented on how nice the instructions were.

I wasn't trying to sound like a smartass, rereading my post, I can see where it may have come off that way. Totally wasn't my intention.
I am familiar with the youtube videos you mentioned, and while seeing it done on a video seems like it would make it a no brainer, I think the Fortin instructions are clearer and easier to understand. Once you tear into your truck and can see and compare wire colors with the instructions, you may find it not as daunting as you think.

@graves037 make sure you also get the THAR-ONE-TOY2 T-Harness. That way it is more PnP and less wires to cut.

A few notes with the instructions...

I had one wire that is orange and black that is not on the instructions, thats the horn honk. If you do not need the alarm option (have factory alarm) just pull the orange black wire out of the plug and do not hook it up. On the instructions where you see a pair of scissors that means you cut the wire and connect a wire to each side of cut wire. Pay attention and make sure you connect the correct wire to the correct side. There are 2 wires that have scissors.

lol, that's my YouTube channel. Thought I made it simple, but guess it didn't come through on the video. If you had any experience soldering and think you can follow the pdf instructions from Fortin, you'll be capable of doing it.

I highly recommend the T-harness also. I did my Subaru without it and it was a nightmare. Totally worth the $50. The Tundra is already a much easier install than the Subaru, but the harness makes it even easier.

Where you mentioned the cuts, I see them on the printout, I’m not clear on exactly what you mean by connect a wire to each side of cut wire. Again, I’m not looking at the torn apart truck right now so maybe it’ll make total sense when I’m in there. So are there 2 wires coming from the fortin box and it’s basically intercepting/rerouting the wire through the fortin box?

Another general question....what kind of solder do y’all use?

Ah, this had me puzzled too when I did much first install. But it makes total sense.

Basically, when you cut the wire, you’ll have 2 ends (duh). If you take each wire and follow them down, one will lead to the vehicle side, and the other will lead to the wire harness side.

Follow the diagram to see which wire from the EVO splices into which wire end.

    Hope I made that clear.

A few more tips on install.

    - cut back the wire tape and open loom to give yourself more factory wire to work with.

    * BE CAREFUL not to cut into something else

    - do not cut too close to the plug, give yourself more wire to work with

    - take the two screw from behind the steering wheel off before taking the negative off battery

    - disconnect the negative on the battery (slide seats all the way back first if powered!)

    - work on one wire at a time.

Honestly it was a little stressful at times. The Tundra wires are so tiny I had a hard time stripping the insulation off a couple of them without removing some of the copper wire which made me inch closer to the plug leaving very little wire left to work with...

Overall not too bad. Only 7 wires to deal with from the EVO even though it looks like 100 when you get it... Lol

I used red butt connectors and taped them up good. I didn't solder.

anyone have info on the new 2018 tundra's with the integrated fob/key? think they are now H-keys. just had a new remote start installed and the key fob will not unlock the truck, have to use the remote start fob to unlock.
