Best place to buy toyota extended warranty?

Hey all! I talked the gf into getting rid of her jeep, and getting into a new 2021 4runner .

It should be here in a couple weeks, and she was wanting an extended warranty. I told her I would ask the fine people on this forum and get back to her. I've read some posts about it, but wanted to get some updated info if possible.

A 10 year/100k mile platinum warranty is the best/longest one you can get right? The longer the better, as she won't put 100k miles on it in 10 years, so the longevity aspect makes the most sense.

When she bought her used jeep several years ago, before we met, they raked her over the coals and sold her the extended warranty for 5k . She thought it was a good deal.... but now I'm here to make sure she doesn't get taken advantage of like that. And I would love your help in getting her the best deal possible!

as long as the vehicle is still in the 3 year 36 thousand mile window you can buy through any Toyota dealer. I shopped around and got a 6 year or 125,000 mile for $1200 and asked my dealer where I bought my Tundra if he would price match or I’ll buy from his competitor. They lowered there price from $1800 to the $1200.

Picking up a '21 in 2-3 weeks. Dealer giving a 20 year, 200k powertrain warranty free of charge. Just picks up where the factory leaves off. Toyota of Des Moines [Iowa].

 

You mean 10yr 100k? I've never heard of a 20 yr warranty

 

I definitely meant 20-year, 200k warranty. However, we all know that Tundras are reliable enough to not cost that warranty backing company too much. Hence, the dealer buys it cheap & passes it on to you and me.

There's a lot of profit margin [fluff] in those extended warranties, so never be afraid to ask for a discount.

 

Just know they will make money off you regardless because that’s why they exist. And good for you for helping her out. Sometimes I send my wife in first just so I can bust their balls afterwards. There’s probably a whole services industry for temporary male representation for single and widowed women that is completely untapped.

I put about 9k miles a year on my vehicles. Seriously thinking of buying a 8-year 75k for $785. Next up is a 9/100 for $1265 and 10/100 for $1360. If I was to go beyond 8, the 10 would be the better deal vs the 9/100 IMO.

 

Where are you getting these prices? They are cheaper than what I was quoted by Jennifer.

 

I am in the process of purchasing a 10 year/100k from Wolverine Toyota and they we about 1300 less than the dealership I purchased it from. Now I don’t have to worry about installing a transmission cooler… I had no desire to do so. I did not realize there would be such a drastic difference in price but I am glad I found his tread.

 

Jennifer was great. The process was easy and straightforward. I believe I received everything in the mail within a week or so. Got a 5/125k for around $850. The dealership wanted a lot more.

 

I’ve been working with Ian and he has been excellent as well. It definitely has been a very straight forward process.
